What the Kansas government office is saying about Chiefs new stadium options

The Kansas City Chiefs have been wrapped up in free agency, the NFL Draft, and their offseason workouts, but something more exciting could be appearing on the horizon.

Exactly one month ago the Kansas City Chiefs lost their 40-year tax vote which would have seen the redevelopment of Arrowhead Stadium, in coalition with the Royals having a new stadium built.

The Jackson County residents extinguished the franchise’s hopes and 58% of voters rejected the plan.

Therefore, the franchise is now open to any proposal, with ‘all options on the table’ according to Mark Donovan.

Moreover, the Team President has recently sealed his long-term commitment to the franchise and the solution to this problem will be at the top of his agenda.

Spectacular renderings on a potential new stadium for the Cheifs

Plans of a potential new stadium were released to the public yesterday by Fox News.

The renderings were located in Kansas City Kansas which would mean the team moves across state lines.

However, in the past, the franchise has shown no hesitation when moving to a different state.

Clark Hunt’s father, Lamar Hunt, relocated the franchise out of Dallas and into Missouri because of the Cowboys’ threatening presence.

Arrowhead Stadium, despite being a historical ground, requires refurbishment to transition with the growth of the franchise.

The front office proposed the tax extension to fund the redevelopment but now seeks an alternative.

The Kansas office is hopeful of bringing the Chiefs across the border

Talks of moving to Kansas have grown over the past few weeks and now there are Star Bond proposals that are set to be discussed.

Matt Evans of KMBC posted this promising update on X: “I talked to the handler of the STAR Bond Proposal for the @Chiefs and @Royals today. He tells me the legislature is planning to take this up at their anticipated special session.”

“He says ‘overwhelming support from both sides of the aisle and from the governors office’.”

The special meeting is set to potentially take place in the next two weeks, per Evans.

Ultimately, there is growing confidence and support from both sides of the Kansas government office to bring the Chiefs across the border.

The Chiefs Team President confirms when the major discussions will take place

Mark Donovan stated that most of the groundwork will not be taking place until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Arrowhead is set to be one of 11 stadiums in the USA to host matches during the biggest sporting tournament in the world.
