Andy Reid and James Winchester have had a history together at the Chiefs for almost 10 years.
Reid has been head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs since 2013. Winchester, on the other hand, joined the squad in 2015 as an undrafted free agent.
They both have one thing in common in their careers: they were part of the Philadelphia Eagles, albeit in different years.
The long snapper and HC witnessed all of Kansas City’s phases, from a winning drought to capturing three Super Bowls in a five-year period.

What Andy Reid means to Winchester
After many seasons together, Winchester knows his coach’s way of being by heart.
During an interview for the podcast Like a farmer, the Special Teams player was asked if the way the media portrays Reid, i.e. “just a laidback, loves cheeseburgers, loves to have a good time”, applies to the person he is in real life.
“He’s an incredible leader of men, watching how he leads a locker room it is pretty impressive and he’s very disciplinary, we have a way who we’re gonna do things and this is just the way it is. He’s not about individuals, he’s everything for the team and everything is cohesive.”
Andy Reid is loyal to his beliefs
Chiefs’ LS said he admires Reid for the fact that, in all the time he’s been around him, the coach has always shown himself to be the same person, regardless of the phase.
“It’s just been impressive because from day one when I got here in 2015, to trying to win Super Bowls to now we’re right in the thick of it and we’re we’re having some success, he hasn’t changed a bit, you know, he sticks to what he knows,” said.
The veteran also mentioned that as well as Big Red being a mastermind, the “non-coach” version of him draws a lot of attention.
“He’s an absolute genius when it comes to X’s and O’s, but he’s just such a good human being, and everyone in that locker room respects him, you know, would run through a brick wall and the way he sticks up for his players. It’s been such a cool deal for me to get to witness that – and you see why we have the success that we have.”
Reid has secured a massive contract extension with the Chiefs and is likely to retire there – his stay is guaranteed until 2029.
