Travis Kelce will go down as the greatest tight end to ever play in the NFL but has credited one choice in his career which found him to love the sport differently.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has revolutionized the position and has engraved his name into the future NFL Hall of Fame.
Despite dropping below 1,000 yards receiving for the first time since 2015, the 34-year-old is confident he can bounce back.
Travis Kelce earns record-breaking NFL contract at the tight end position
Earlier this month, the Chiefs legend put pen to paper on a salary increase for his remaining two years under contract.
The $34.2 million salary officially made him the highest-paid tight end in the business – a deserved status.
Moreover, the nine-time Pro Bowler holds too many franchise and NFL records to count.

Kelce has stated that he would be satisfied retiring with six rings in a recent interview, but his next challenge is the upcoming three-peat campaign.
Furthermore, the four-time First-Team All-Pro has been a staple piece for the Chiefs and one of the NFL’s greatest dynasties in history.
However, the career path that Kelce could have pursued may have been very different if he had not made a paramount decision in college.
Travis Kelce played quarterback in college but decided to go all in to be a tight end
Kelce entered college as a hybrid talent, he was a competent quarterback as well as a powerful tight end.
After being suspended due to testing positive for marijuana in 2010, he decided to drop the quarterback dream and focus on being a tight end.
Before the NFL Draft in 2013, he finished his final college season with 722 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round and the rest is history.
Travis Kelce found a ‘love for the game’ when going full-time at tight end
On the recent New Height podcast with brother Jason Kelce, he admitted focusing on the tight end position helped him love the sport even more.
“It’s a fun challenge to be asked to do everything [at the tight end position], and I didn’t realize that until I moved to the position, and that’s when I really started to find love for the game,” Kelce explained via YouTube.
The siblings were on the topic of NFL playbooks and they reiterated how tight ends are one of the most involved players on the field, through their receiving and run blocking.
“I was doing more than just catching the ball and giving it to somebody else, I was sticking my face in the fan in the run game, finding ways I can help guys out when they have the ball in their hands, running around downfield getting blocks, and I just had more fun in the challenge the tight end position gave me than necessarily the quarterback position.”
Patrick Mahomes and Kelce we be remembered as one of the greatest partnerships
Chiefs Kingdom and the franchise will be over the moon that Kelce decided to make a career out of being a tight end.
Patrick Mahomes is the quarterback that they have gratefully found to steer the team to three Super Bowl rings.
Nevertheless, the two-time MVP has gone on record to say he attributes ‘almost all’ his success towards Kelce.
The deadly duo will go down as one of the greatest partnerships in NFL history once it is all said and done.
