To make it clear to everyone that they are committed to doing everything possible to win the three-peat, the Kansas City Chiefs appear to be going all-in for the 2024 season – and a new report shows why.
Travis Kelce has reworked his contract with the Chiefs for another two years. He signed an improved new contract with the organisation that makes him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL. Ian Rapoport broke the news.
The financial details of the deal were disclosed by Tom Pelissero. Kelce is likely to retire in KC, as he’ll be 38 in the last year of his contract.

What Kelce has done in eleven years in the league
At the time he was just a prospect, the tight end already stood out in Cincinnati Bearcats. In his first year playing for the university, he recorded eight rushes for 47 yards, two touchdowns and one reception for three yards in 11 games. He also served as quarterback.
A violation of team rules got him suspended during the 2010 season (he tested positive for marijuana). He returned in 2011, playing tight end, recording 13 receptions, totalling 150 yards and two touchdowns in 11 outings.
In 2012, his final college season, the Cincinnati product put up good numbers over 13 games: 45 catches, 722 yards receiving, yards per reception (16) and eight touchdowns.
After being drafted, Kelce had seven consecutive seasons with more than 1,000 receiving yards (2016-2022). Last year, however, he came up just a little short: 93 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns.
Despite this, he was one of the main players responsible for Kansas City winning the last Super Bowl – in overtime, he caught nine passes for 93 yards.
Mahomes is locked in with his offensive duo
Patrick Mahomes, as well as being a teammate, is a personal friend of Kelce’s. He celebrated the TE’s contract extension on his X profile.
“I told y’all I’ll never let him leave!! Congrats my guy! @tkelce“, the QB celebrated.
TK has 589 catches for 7,303 yards and has scored 53 touchdowns in 93 games with Mahomes in his career. Kelce’s touchdown in the AFC Championship win marked the duo’s 16th, surpassing Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski in TDs for any two-men pairing in playoff history (15).
Chiefs’ legend sends message to fans
