The Dallas Cowboys have placed all their eggs in the basket of the NFL Draft and face their biggest draft in years.
Jerry Jones abstained from free agency and signed just one outside free agent, Eric Kendricks.
After an exodus of key players, America’s Team relies on the upcoming draft and must produce a masterclass.
The consensus was the Cowboys were using their early picks on the offensive line.
Cowboys could be poised to draft a QB says NFL Insider
However, Adam Schefter has muddied the waters with his suggestion the Cowboys are a ‘sleeper team’ to draft a quarterback.
Now, could the Cowboys be seriously considering drafting a QB early?

Franchise signal-caller Dak Prescott is entering his ninth season but only has one year left under contract.
So, if Jerry Jones sees the Cowboys’ success without Prescott as the quarterback, then he would be considering a rebuild.
Therefore, if the 81-year-old has this mentality, the Cowboys could consider drafting a QB.
According to some mock drafts, Bo Nix and Michael Penix Jr. are two highly-rated prospects who would fall to the second round.
NFL expert Nick Wright has suggested, if available, the Cowboys should draft one of them.
Cowherd suggest the Cowboys draft a QB and learn from an NFC rival
TV show host, Colin Cowherd, has also recommended America’s Team follow suit and should take inspiration from one NFC rival.
On The Herd podcast, he stated: “Bo Nix and Michael Penix, according to Mel Kiper’s mock draft, will not be picked in the first round, meaning Dallas at 24 could draft both or either… I would!
“The best current quarterback organization in the league, and they’ve been good forever, the Green Bay Packers. They did it with Aaron [Rodgers] and they did it with Jordan Love. They drafted them and sat them for three years. They actually had a plan. Doesn’t it feel like Dallas really doesn’t.”
Cowherd suggests that Jones does draft a quarterback and follow the same plan of the Green Bay Packers.
Cowboys can learn from the Packers’ plan for Jordan Love
Moreover, Green Bay tactically nurtured Rodgers and Love by having them sit behind their respective predecessors.
Ironically, it was Love and his young Packers unit that wiped the floor with Dallas in the 2023 Divisional Round.
Furthermore, Jones could decide to give Mike McCarthy a quarterback to coach behind Prescott in his final year.
McCarthy’s future remains unclear in Dallas
Yet, if McCarthy is entering his final year and is released in 2025. The succeeding head coach may not be a fan of the future quarterback.
It is a risky game to draft a new signal caller when the futures of multiple figures look uncertain.
The decision could have a huge impact on Trey Lance who hopes to be the backup to Prescott in 2024.
