Bill Simmons says he hopes Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift last the distance but has concerns over the dynamic of their relationship.
The sportswriter and podcaster believes Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift genuinely like each other, amid their relationship which has blossomed this year and become one of the stories of the NFL season.
But whether the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and the music megastar will last, is another matter, says Simmons.
He told his podcast that he believes the money and power dynamic between the pair may prove too uncomfortable, but says he is rooting for them.

Simmons on Kelce and Swift
Simmons explained: “The thing that concerns me about the future of their relationship, I saw he was planning a birthday party for her. Travis Kelce is making like $11 million a year playing for the Chiefs, he’s got his podcast, he’s got some endorsements, I’m going to say he’s in the low 20s.
“But if you’re dating Taylor Swift, dating anybody that famous, it’s not like he’s like ‘Hey Taylor I got us two first-class tickets on Delta to fly to Kansas City’, you’re not private wherever you go, you got handlers wherever you go, your in the penthouse suite everywhere you go. There’s a lifestyle thing that only a few people could date her, but also have the money.
“And if she pays for most of the stuff, that gets into a whole ‘this is weird you’re paying’, I just don’t know how this plays out.”
He added that he does hope the couple can find a way to make it work, amid the huge media attention.
Simmons explained: “I’m monitoring it because there are lots of different reasons these go sideways. I’ve lived through a lot of celebrity relationships, and this seems like one of the better ones. I like the two worlds they come from, they seem like they like each other, they are around the same age, they both kind of get something out of it.”
Chiefs need help
Simmons added that he does not believe the relationship has derailed the Chiefs season amid two straight losses.
Instead, he cited an over-reliance on 34-year-old Kelce, who plays at a physically demanding position, and the failure of the rest of the Chiefs receivers to step up and help quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
“[They] drop big plays and they could easily have three more wins. Three more plays and three more wins, they would have it,” he added.
