Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes’ new celebratory handshake – which they showed off during the Chiefs’ win over the Chargers – is getting some serious heat online.

Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were at their best on Sunday as the Chiefs duo combined for their 50th regular season touchdown during a 31-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Patrick Mahomes threw four touchdowns while Travis Kelce had 179 yards and a score as Kansas moved to 6-1 for the season.

Mahomes and Kelce have an almost telepathic connection on the field, and it seems their other halves are developing one off it too.

Kelce’s rumored love interest Taylor Swift was once again in attendance at Arrowhead Stadium this week. The 12-time Grammy winner appears to be making plenty of new friends in Kansas City, as she enjoyed the action next to Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany.

In fact, the pair appear to be getting along like a house on fire, as they showed off their special celebratory handshake.

During the second quarter, Patrick and Travis connected for a touchdown, and Brittany and Swift celebrated by debuting their new handshake.

The NFL shared a video of the handshake to X, and features the pair slapping the fronts and backs of their hands together five times, before then grasping each other’s hands and bumping their hips together. In another version, they topped it all off with a jumping chest bump.

However, not everyone was enjoying it.

‘This is more cringe for me,’ one user said, while another said, ‘This is so cringe just to get people to watch NFL football!’ Another added that the friendship seemed like a ‘publicity stunt,’ adding, ‘who practices a handshake?’

Swifties weren’t happy with her being near Jackson Mahomes

This is the first time Taylor has been in Mahomes’ suite at Arrowhead after previously sitting next to Travis’ family in theirs.

However, that did mean Taylor was stood next to Jackson Mahomes, Patrick’s somewhat divisive younger brother, for most of the game.

A number of ‘Swifties’ – and fans in general – were asking the popstar to stay as far away from him as possible.

‘I’m going to need someone to get her out of that box immediately, Jackson Mahomes is there,’ one Twitter user wrote.

‘Jackson Mahomes is close to Taylor Swift. What the Swifties want to do,’ another wrote.

Taylor’s presence is obviously working a charm so far; the Chiefs are three for three with her in attendance.
