One of the most electric kick returners in Kansas City Chiefs history was recognized for his tremendous contribution to the organization on Sunday.
Dante Hall was inducted into the Chiefs Ring of Honor ahead of the team’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Hall played seven NFL seasons in Kansas City as a running back, wide receiver and kick returner with game-breaking speed, making him a nightmare for opposing teams to catch.
Dante Hall had the X-Factor
Despite a great college football career at Texas A&M, where Hall racked up 4,707 all-purpose yards, he wasn’t taken until the fifth round of the 2000 NFL Draft by Kansas City.
However, he quickly became one of the premiere playmakers in the NFL in the early 2000s, earning the nicknames “X-Factor” and “The Human Joystick”.
During his tenure in Kansas City Hall set team records for career kickoff return yards (8,644), career kick return touchdowns (six), career punt return touchdowns (five), career combined kickoff and punt return touchdowns (11), career All-purpose yards (12,356), kickoff return yards in a single season (1,718 in 2004) and All-purpose yards in a single season (2,446 in 2003).
Hall was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2002 and 2003 and was named a First-team All-Pro in 03.
In 2006, Hall had two kickoff returns for 86 yards to go along with three punt returns for seven yards during a Week 12 encounter with the Denver Broncos.
Those numbers on that day made him the sixth player in NFL history to reach 10,000 kick return yards.
He was the NFL kickoff return leader in 2004 while being named to the league’s First-team All-Decade team as a punt returner for the 2000s.
In college, he earned First-team All-Big 12 honors with the Aggies.

The Chiefs traded Hall to the St. Louis Rams for a third and fifth-round selection in 2007, where he played out his final two seasons of professional football.
Injuries saw him have limited action with the Rams, with Hall featuring in seven and eight games in 2007 and 08, respectively.
After retiring, Hall co-authored a book entitled “Dante Hall: X-Factor” detailing his journey from Texas A&M running back to becoming one of the best kick returners the NFL has ever seen.
He’s also been mentioned in the Lil Wayne song “Dipset (Reppin Time)” in the line “I’m like Dante Hall, I just throw up the X.”
Hall was also a guest on the Late Show with David Letterman on October 30, 2003.
In 2013, he worked as an assistant coach at St. Anthony High School in Long Beach, California.
He also served as a radio host at KILT-FM in Houston, Texas, in 2016.
In 2021, Hall was inducted into the Texas A&M Athletic Hall of Fame.
While best known for being a return specialist, he was officially listed as a wide receiver.
He is the first Chiefs player at that position to be named into the Ring of Honor since Carlos Carson in 2017.
