Cowboys Nation received responses to questions that were perhaps better left unanswered.
Jerry Jones finds himself in hot water. After making empty promises at his press conference last Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys’ situation looks irreversible.
To make things worse, the Detroit Lions announced Amon-Ra St. Brown’s contract extension on Wednesday, making him the highest paid wide receiver in the league along with Tyreek Hill.
Dallas fans can no longer bear to go through the same thing every year.
The future of CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons is in Jones’ hands, which, at the moment, doesn’t look positive.

Dak Prescott has nothing left to grow into
Former NFL player Ryan Clark, on the latest edition of the First Take show, gave his perspective on what the franchise is showing to those who aren’t inside the facilities.
“He thought that there was more growth for Dak. Dak is what he’s going to be. Last year, Dak was a top three MVP candidate, he was the quarterback that led his team to the NFC East championship. He’s not going to be more than that.”
“There is no watching him play this year saying to yourself, ‘I’m more sure of who Dak Prescott is than I was a year ago’,” he added.
“To me, you’re saying you’re comfortable moving on from Dak Prescott, you’re comfortable with Dak Prescott being an unrestricted free agent. There’s no trade cost, right? And there’s also no opportunity to tag Prescott. So you’re saying is we’re gonna let him test the market.”
It’s worth remembering that the owner has made it very clear that he’s locked-in with Prescott – until 2024, at least.
Clark thinks that Jerry Jones is the problem
The analyst said that every speech the multi-millionaire businessman gives means nothing. For decades, history has repeated itself and the franchise has continued with the narrative of a good team that never wins a game in the playoffs.
So, for him, the problem is Jerry Jones.
“I don’t think anybody’s ever ignored the fact that Jerry Jones’ decision making as a GM and as an owner has played into the inability to win championships, but the Dallas Cowboys aren’t the only team that haven’t won a Super Bowl in the last 30 years, but they’re the only team that we talk about this much. They’re the only team that continues to make headlines.”
Stephen A. Smith was also at the debate and made a point of expressing his dissatisfaction with the organisation’s lack of activity.
“All I know is that they go out to drink, and they have lunch, and they have dinner. I don’t know anything else that the front office for the Dallas Cowboys have done this offseason.”
Smith also said that although Jones is a hindrance to the Cowboys’ progress, nothing will change: “The same reason we don’t talk about most owners because they ain’t firing themselves.”
There are many layers to the delicate situation in which Dallas found himself. Let’s see what unfolds over the course of the season.
