Skip Bayless is never shy to go against the grain and play devil’s advocate, he believes truly in his heart there is currently a better quarterback than Patrick Mahomes.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has already reached the pinnacle of football at the relatively young age of 28.
The rookie out of Texas Tech had no one predicting that he would go on to produce the career he has had.
Mahomes only has three Super Bowl titles, three Super Bowl MVPs, two MVP awards, and two First-Team All-Pro honors.
Patrick Mahomes comparisons
Unquestionably, the 28-year-old is the most successful signal caller currently in the league.
The generational talent has reached levels that the ‘G.O.A.T’ Tom Brady was able to match at 37 years old.
Mahomes is the most well-rounded QB in the National Football League.

If you need a QB to throw a 60-yard dime into the wide receiver’s hands, he has got you.
If you need a QB to turn a guaranteed sack into a 25-yard gain, he has also got you.
If you need a QB to lead the team downfield to score a touchdown in a one-minute drill, he has got you once again.
Multiple quarterbacks are exceptional in distinctive aspects but no one has the entire arsenal of skills – with the capability of executing them – to the potential of Mahomes.
‘Just a little better’
However, Skip Bayless has suggested that there is another quarterback who edges Mahomes’ ability: I still believe with my heart and soul that Joe Burrow is better than Mahomes.
“Maybe just a little better, but better than Patrick Mahomes.
“What I can’t defend is Joe Burrow staying healthy because he hasn’t been healthy. Not consistently.
“But I definitely can defend what he did at San Francisco versus that 49ers defense this past season, versus what Patrick Mahomes did or didn’t do against that same 49ers defense in the Super Bowl.
Burrow has a lot of catching up
Joe Burrow is a fantastic athlete and will be for many years to come in the NFL.
Unfortunately, Joe Burrow has only completed two full seasons in his NFL career.
In week 11 of the 2020 and 2023 seasons, the 27-year-old suffered season-ending injuries.
Burrow exceptionally guided the Cincinnati Bengals to a maiden Super Bowl in 2021 but fell short to the Los Angeles Rams.
The first pick of the 2020 draft needs to remain healthy if he is to have a chance of catching Mahomes.
The Kansas quarterback has a trophy cabinet which speaks for itself when compared to Joe Burrow.
