Shannon Sharpe has criticised Travis Kelce for attending Game 1 of the World Series on Friday. After the Broncos defeat, the First Take host said it was a “terrible look.”
Both the Chiefs and Travis Kelce had a game to forget against the Broncos on Sunday. Denver came away with a shock 24-9 victory against the reigning Super Bowl champions in a matchup that saw the visitors fail to register a touchdown in a game for the first time since 2021.
Going into the game, KC had won 16 straight against the Broncos, while Patrick Mahomes was a perfect 12-0. Those streaks came to an end at Mile High this weekend, as the Chiefs QB threw for 241 yards with a lowly 63.2% completion rate. He had zero touchdowns and three turnovers, including a fumble and two interceptions, as he finished with a 59.2 passer rating.
Russell Wilson on the other hand threw for three TDs and had zero interceptions with a passer rating of 119.3.

Shannon Sharpe on Travis Kelce’s ‘terrible look’ before Broncos game
Mahomes gets somewhat of a pass though as he was dealing with flu like symptoms before the game. It was touch-and-go if he’d even play at all.
However, KC’s other biggest threat, Travis Kelce, also had one of his worst games this season, registering six catches for 58 yards.
Former Broncos TE Shannon Sharpe was critical of Kelce in the defeat, saying that Kelce’s appearance at Game 1 of the World Series in Arlington, Texas on Friday was an “awful look.”
Kelce was spotted on the big screen at Globe Life Field dancing to Taylor Swift’s song Shake It Off.
“We know the only receiver [Patrick Mahomes] can consistently count on is Travis Kelce, and he didn’t have his best day. And I’m kind of disappointed because, Friday night he was at the Rangers game,” Sharpe said on his podcast, The Nightcap, with former wide receiver Chad Johnson.
Johnson asked what the issue was and Sharpe replied, “It’s the middle of the season!”
Ochocinco pushed back by asking what the big deal was with Kelce enjoying himself on a Friday.
“It was in Texas. He lives in Kansas City,” Sharpe said. “It’s an awful look. It’s a terrible look.”
Kelce wasn’t the only player who had a subpar performance
However, fans disagreed with Sharpe and sided with Ocho’s initial sentiment that it wasn’t a big deal.
‘Just so you know a flight from KC to Dallas is about 45mins…I don’t see any issue,’ one fan wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
‘Man, everyone dragging Travis Kelce. The whole team has a bad game. Why are people only blaming Kelce tho?’, someone else said.
‘SS come on now… this some BS…the loss had nothing to do with TK going to the World Series…both of you played the game and did EXACTLY what you wanted to do in your FREE TIME,’ a third commented.
To be fair to Kelce, it’s difficult to suggest he’s being distracted by extracurricular activities this season. Heading into Sunday’s matchup against the Broncos, Kelce had 31 catches for 370 yards and two touchdowns in his last three games.
He wasn’t up to his usual standards against the Broncos, but neither was anybody else. Kelce, like everyone else on the team, including Mahomes, had a subpar game. It happens.
Through eight games this season, Kelce has 54 receptions for 583 yards receiving (10th in the NFL) and four touchdowns (T12 in the NFL). He is averaging 10.8 receiving yards per reception which is slightly down on his career average of 12.6.
Against the Broncos he still led the team in targets (nine), catches (six), and yards (58).
Fair to say Sharpe’s criticism of Kelce is pretty harsh.
