Trust can often be a make-or-break thing in any relationship, including the Dallas Cowboys and their critics.
Blowing out the New York Giants, Commanders, and Panthers while also crushing an inconsistent Eagles team at home won’t make journalists believe in you anymore.
The Cowboys’ loss to the Buffalo Bills further solidifies those who’ve doubted this team’s Super Bowl chances in 2023.
Even their #1 fan and outspoken host Skip Bayless doesn’t believe in them, saying they’ll lose their final three games of the regular season.
Now you can add his former co-host at “Undisputed” to the list of Cowboy naysayers.

Cowboys Like an Ex
Like Skip, Shannon Sharpe always speaks his mind, has no filter, and what he had to say about the Cowboys this week was not good.
On ESPN’s First Take, the Hall of Fame tight end compared America’s Team to an ex.
“I look at the Cowboys like one of my exes; they look good, but I don’t trust them,” Sharpe said.
Dan Orlovsky followed up with Shannon saying, “What happens if the ex changed their ways, Shannon?”
“Would a win in Miami make you trust Cowboys again?”
“I hope it works out well for her and her next partner,” Sharpe responded.
When you look at what Mike McCarthy’s group showed us in Buffalo, it’s perhaps no surprise to hear many don’t believe that this team can do anything come playoff time.
Sharpe is among many celebrities lacking faith in this group.
Last month, Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington appeared on the “Let’s Go Podcast” with NFL G.O.A.T. Tom Brady, saying he can’t figure the Cowboys out.
Interestingly, one of the most outspoken sports pundits is also one of the most positive about Dallas lately.
Stephen A. Smith is apparently too busy hating on the Kansas City Chiefs’ offense to attack America’s Team.
Smith says the Cowboys are the 49ers’ biggest threat in the NFC, which coming from him, may be as close to a compliment as you’ll get.
Trust is Earned
A victory against the Miami Dolphins would go a long way to regaining trust with the critics, but it won’t silence them completely.
Winning their remaining regular season encounters would also help as it’d potentially clinch the NFC East and a first-round bye.
Doing that would also give them a road victory against a team with a winning record.
Seeing as San Francisco looks like the team with the inside track on home-field advantage in the NFC heading into the postseason, the Cowboys need a confidence boost from somewhere.
There’s also plenty of incentives for a number of members of this organization to step things up.
McCarthy is playing for a contract extension, as is Dak Prescott.
CeeDee Lamb‘s contract is up at the end of 2024, so plenty of players have extra incentives to play well and hopefully go all the way.
Doing that would be the ultimate way to make pundits into believers.
