It’s common knowledge that Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL today.
Of course, without detracting from the talent of the other 31 QBs.
Even so, Patrick Mahomes isn’t even among the ten highest paid signal-callers in the league.
During the offseason, many players had their contracts extended and were paid handsomely.
In recent days, the Green Bay Packers announced a contract extension with Jordan Love worth $200 million.
He became the highest paid quarterback in the NFL, alongside three others.

NFL’s highest paid QB ranking
The 2020 Draft class was responsible for producing five of the biggest contracts in the league.
Here’s the list of the five wealthiest NFL QBs from the 2020 class:

- Pick 5: Tua Tagovailoa: Four years, $212.4M ($53.1 million/year)

- Pick 26: Jordan Love: Four years, $220M ($55 million/year)
- Pick 53: Jalen Hurts: Five years, $255M ($51 million/year)
In the overall list, without taking into account the Draft year, Patrick Mahomes comes in 12th place, tied with Kirk Cousins.

In September 2023, Mahomes renewed his contract to guarantee $210.6 million over the 2023 to 2026 seasons, achieving the highest cash flow for any signal-caller in that span of years.
This adjustment came after he initially made headlines by signing a record 10-year, $450 million contract in July 2020, shortly after leading the Chiefs to victory in the Super Bowl.
Despite his previous contract being the largest in the history of American sport, other players’ contracts soon exceeded his average annual earnings, which led to the need for renegotiation.
Patrick Mahomes is happy with his contract
The big renewals of several NFL QBs over the course of this year have sparked a discussion about Mahomes not being paid enough, considering he’s the baby goat and far above anyone else in his position.
Pat was asked at the last press conference about his contract and what he thinks of seeing other quarterbacks who aren’t winners like him signing giant deals.
“We do a great job,” said.
The reigning champion opted to adjust his contract to allow the organisation to bring in major additions to the team: “When I restructured, kind of moving money around the last time, we talked about a certain year when we were going to go back and do it again. It’s about having that plan, that constant communication, and we have that here.”
He’s genuinely pleased. to see players getting paid.
“I’m happy to see guys going out and getting as much money as possible. That’s awesome for the sport… We have a great communication system where I feel like we’ve done the best with what we can do.”
Mahomes, once again, showed that his will to win speaks much louder than a valuable contract.
