Patrick Mahomes recently told the world’s media he intends on getting into NFL team ownership one day. It comes a day after it was revealed the Chiefs QB was investing in Formula One.
Patrick Mahomes has essentially been the face of the NFL ever since Tom Brady passed him the torch upon his retirement earlier this year.
The Chiefs quarterback is a two-time Super Bowl winner and the reigning NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP. He is one of the most well paid athletes in the world after signing an insanely lucrative contract in 2020, and is already dipping his toes into other sports.

Mahomes has his eyes set on becoming an NFL team owner one day
Speaking to press about his plans for life after the NFL, Mahomes recently revealed he has his eyes set on becoming an NFL team owner.
“Eventually, when I’m done playing,” Mahomes said of one day getting into NFL team ownership.
“I think Tom [Brady] is trying to do it right now, but that’s definitely where you want to get to. I love this sport and want to give back in any way possible. When I’m done playing, obviously I’ll be a Chiefs fan, but at the same time I want to have that competitive edge I’ve always had my entire life.”
His recent venture into F1 with Alpine
Mahomes’ lofty ambitions come after it was revealed he was becoming a minority investor in Formula One. Mahomes and KC teammate Travis Kelce, along with a number of other sports stars including golfer Rory McIlroy, are joining Otro Capital as strategic investors in F1 outfit, BWT Alpine.
“I think everybody can see the appeal,” Mahomes said of owning an F1 team. “I’ve been able to get to a couple races now. Seeing the environment and watching ‘Drive to Survive’ on Netflix, you see how competitive it is. Anytime you get an opportunity to get in on that… I’m competitive on everything we can get, and so hopefully it can open up to some great opportunities and we’re able to go to some of those races and have a little stake in the game.
“They came to us with the opportunity, I jumped at it. I’m excited for it… It’ll be cool to be able to go to some of the events and hopefully get to some other places. Maybe other than Miami, maybe get to some of the other places around the world.”

All sports, including the NBA, are appealing to Mahomes
However, Mahomes also revealed that he isn’t limiting himself to NFL and F1, and would be willing to buy into other sports too.
He is already a part owner of MLB’s Kansas City Royals, MLS’ Sporting Kansas City, NWSL’s Kansas City Current (NWSL) and a pickleball team.
“I’m always looking around,” he said. “I can’t do it in the NFL while I’m playing, so I’m always looking around at other sports. It’s hard to get in all sports, NBA and all that different type of stuff, but I’m always keeping my ears open. If they give me the opportunity, I’m going to jump at it.”
