The Kansas City Chiefs have concluded their 3-day rookie minicamp which included 79 participants and Patrick Mahomes has still been getting constant updates from one of the players.
Monday was the last day of the first practice period for the new rookies, with numerous undrafted players getting the call to try out.
Players like Xavier Worthy, Jared Wiley, Jaden Hicks, and Kingsley Suamataia, plus many more, laced up their cleats for the first time as Chiefs players.
Furthermore, the camp gives the stars of the future a chance to find their feet in NFL training and bridges the game to the upcoming OTAs.
Rookies take their first steps in the NFL with the 3-day minicamp before OTAs
The transition from college football to the NFL is a daunting process, so the rookie minicamp gives the players a chance to find their feet.
In addition, it’s the perfect opportunity for coaches to try out their new assets in various drills and get further insight.

As implied in the name, the rookie minicamp is a separate practice session without the presence of the veterans.
However, this has not stopped Patrick Mahomes from receiving constant updates about the performances in training.
Patrick Mahomes has been contacting Chris Oladokun every day after camp practices
The two-time MVP does not want to stay out of the loop and has been communicating with the third-string quarterback of 2023, Chris Oladokun.
Oladokun has been eligible to participate in the camp and has been the lead quarterback for the rookies.
He has been Mahomes’ eyes and ears over the past few days and has been the source of intel.
“It’s good because Pat (Mahomes) has called me after every single day like, “Hey, how are the guys doing? What routes are they good at? Things of that nature,” Oladokun said via AZ Sports.
“Just sort of asking about the guys. Even just in the cafeteria, how are they as dudes? Are they good dudes? That’s something that Coach Reid, and all the coaches, we take pride in here. That everyone is a good dude in the building.”
This line of questioning and eagerness to have the best understanding of the rookies is a testament to the leadership qualities of Mahomes.
Moreover, the 28-year-old must wait until the 22nd of May to start throwing passes and practicing in an official capacity with the rookies.
Jared Wiley has been training with Mahomes before the NFL Draft in Texas
New tight end Jared Wiley has already been catching passes off Mahomes at his training camp in Texas, per Travis Kelce.
Nonetheless, Oladokun can share useful information with Mahomes so he is prepared for the next set of franchise OTAs.
The three-time Super Bowl winner is desperate to three-peat and guaranteed they will do it in New Orleans in 2025.
Therefore, being as prepared as one could be before training with the rookies will go a long way in achieving their dream.
