The Dallas Cowboys have been one of the best teams in the regular season, which is preceded by playoff disappointment, but one player is considered to be the most underappreciated in the league.

America’s Team will embark on another season in which they hope not to fall early during the postseason.

Jerry Jones is demanding the franchise returns back to the NFL Championship landscape, somewhere they have failed to venture into in nearly three decades.

The Dallas Cowboys have some of the best positional players in the game on their roster

The Dallas Cowboys roster is stacked with star talent on both sides of the ball, which makes their lack of success even more alarming.

Micah Parsons is on course to become an all-time great with the Dallas Cowboys and in three seasons is already one of the best defensive stars.

In addition, Trevon Diggs was one of the best cornerbacks in the league before his ACL tear in 2023.

Head coach Mike McCarthy is not short of offensive talent in Dak Prescott who finished runner-up in the 2023 MVP voting.

Furthermore, CeeDee Lamb has drawn his plaudits as he is now considered one of the best wide receivers in the business.

The Dallas Cowboys are stacked with game-changers and have been considered to boast one of the best rosters in all of football the past couple of seasons.

Nonetheless, the best teams always have underappreciated talent who fail to receive the same appreciation the key players have.

NFL Expert suggests the Cowboys have the most underappreciated player in the league

Per NFL.com Expert Tom Blair, the Cowboys’ most underappreciated player is wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

The 10-year veteran has been appreciated by several teams after being traded more times than he can count.

Moreover, in six seasons he has produced more than 1,000 yards receiving demonstrating his consistency.

In his first season with the Cowboys, the 30-year-old logged 657 yards as their WR2.

Throughout his NFL career, Cooks has mostly been considered to be a team’s number one target but has had to settle for a new role.

CeeDee Lamb has taken attention away from Cooks but could be asked to find another gear in 2024

Lamb’s talent and production have seen Cooks demoted to the WR2 responsibility.

The change in role has affected his numbers but he accepts this situation because of the volume of passes being thrown in Lamb’s direction.

Surprisingly, Cooks has never been selected for a Pro Bowl or awarded All-Pro honors but his consistent output has seen him become a valuable member of five teams throughout his career.

As age slowly creeps up on the veteran, his numbers continue to slide south but he could be in for a bigger responsibility in 2024.

The franchise currently has no conclusive WR3 within its ranks and Cooks could be asked to step up and find another gear.

In a recent interview, Cooks said he is ‘ready to rock’ for the upcoming season and takes the team’s inactivity in free agency as a ‘compliment’ to the current roster.

More pressure will be focused on Cooks and he hopes to find one of his previous 1,000-yard seasons in his arsenal.
