The Kansas City Chiefs front office will be looking at ways to add to the team during free agency.
The top priority for the Kansas City Chiefs this off-season is to retain Chris Jones, and if possible, L’Jarius Sneed too.
One way to this, as we predicted, was to cut Super Bowl touchdown maker Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
This has created $12 million in cap space, enhancing the chance of Jones and Sneed re-signing, but it also means the Chiefs need a new wide receiver opposite Rashee Rice.
One option is simply to address this in the NFL Draft, but the Chiefs are also expected to explore options in free agency too.
It might be difficult to go after big names like Mike Evans, but more moderate, cheaper deals, could fit in with the Chiefs.

Darnell Mooney an option for the Chiefs
According to ESPN, Chicago Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney could be of interest to Kansas City as he enters free agency.
The Chiefs are named as one of two teams, along with the Tennessee Titans, considered to be most interested in Mooney.
Mooney is coming off a disappointing season in Chicago, which means he could be signed on a cheap deal, less than the team were paying Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
He may not go in the early days of free agency either as he is not one of the top names at receiver.
Darnell Mooney numbers
Darnell Mooney was a fifth round pick for the Chicago Bears in 2020 and he has made a name for himself at the franchise despite poor quarterback play.
2023 was a career low year as he caught just one touchdown and ended the season sidelined with a concussion.
In four seasons in the NFL he has 2,593 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.
Mooney was shut down quite easily by the Chiefs in their match-up last season where he had just one target in a 41-10 blowout for Kansas City.
The 26-year-old is not a big name who would be a game changer, but he is a professional wide receiver who would be an upgrade on Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney, who could reach a new level playing alongside Patrick Mahomes.
On a cheap deal, he could fit the mould, strengthening the ranks, and allowing the Chiefs to get business done in other areas, and also attack the receiver position in the draft too.
