Florio believes Jerry can ‘pitch’ an extension to Prescott with Belichick in the frame

Mike Florio believes the growing chance of Bill Belichick coaching America’s Team has molded the extension mentality.

On Pro Football Talk, the analyst explained: “Next year the pitch will be ‘We’ve got Bill Belichick’. All of this makes it more likely they make a beeline for Belichick to be the coach of the team next year.

“The pitch next year will be, ‘We’ve got the greatest coach of all time, we’ve got a team that is still pretty damn good and we’re gonna polish off the pieces we need’… I think that’s why they are treading water now, even though they claimed they were going to go all in.”

Florio predicts the appointment of Belichick could stop Prescott from hitting the open market and tempt him into a new extension.

Ultimately, the 30-year-old may take a cheaper contract if there is a brilliant chance that a Super Bowl is on the cards.
