The offseason for the Cowboys is underway and they are preparing for the 2024 NFL season.
Jerry Jones has secured his first offseason signing in the defensive form of Eric Kendricks.
Head coach Mike McCarthy and his staff are fully locked in for the challenging offseason ahead.
However, is the former Green Bay Packers HC fortunate to still be in his job?
McCarthy survives another year
Well, the Cowboys produced a stellar 12 wins in the regular season, boasting an immaculate home record going eight for eight.
They were the only team to achieve such a regular-season feat.
Expectations were high and reaching the first NFC Championship final in 29 years looked like a real possibility.

The dream came crashing down as Jordan Love and his young Packers unit embarrassed America’s Team.
Debate circled throughout the NFL world and people were questioning if McCarthy was going to be sacked.
Owner Jerry Jones settled the issue when he confirmed the 2010 Super Bowl winner was staying put.
Before the news that McCarthy was not leaving Dallas, potential replacements were discussed.
Belichick to Dallas?
One of the names was Bill Belichick – a serial winner with Tom Brady.
The New England Patriots failed to make the playoffs and the 71-year-old mutually agreed to part ways.
After 23 years as the Patriots’ HC, he was now available for hire.
Belichick interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons for their vacant head coach role but nothing materialized.
TV, podcast hosts and journalists proposed the eight-time Super Bowl winner as a replacement for the under-pressure McCarthy.
As we know this came to no avail.
Irvin wanted Bill
When asked on the Rich Eisen Show if he would have liked Belichick as head coach, legendary Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin said: “I would of liked to see Bill Belichick in Dallas.
“Dallas could certainly use him, why do I say that? When you watch the playoff game it’s third a 3 and the tight end ran a quick out. I had a cornerback 12 yards off the tight end… get up on him and press him.
“Bill Belichick pays attention to those little tiny details in football games and that’s what I wanted in Dallas.”
Irvin wanted a coach who could iron out those problems.
Belichick was a defensive mastermind and would have been a huge aid to the defensive side of the ball.
Nevertheless, Jones and the front office are focused on working with McCarthy into the last year of his current deal.
