Micah Parsons instant reaction to Dallas Cowboys first round NFL Draft pick

The dust has settled after an exhilarating opening night in the NFL Draft and the Dallas Cowboys played their role expertly.

Jerry Jones happily obliged when the Detroit Lions called when on the clock with the 24th pick.

Dallas traded back and took the Lions’ pick at #29, which also saw them gain an invaluable third-round pick.

Moreover, this was a well-calculated move because this offseason has forced the Cowboys to find multiple starters in this year’s Draft class.

Tyler Guyton drafted as a replacement for Cowboys legend Tyron Smith

The Cowboys front office was on the hunt for Tyron Smith’s replacement and they acquired him in the form of Tyler Guyton out of Oklahoma.

Jerry Jones could have been drawn into choosing a player to grab the headlines but he stuck to the team’s needs.

Guyton, who stands at 6-foot-seven, will offer protection for Dak Prescott at left tackle.

In addition, the rookie will offer a strong helping hand in their running game.

The 81-year-old stated that establishing a dominant running game is imperative to their offseason upgrades.

Now, the Cowboys will be searching for Johnathon Brooks on Day 2 of the NFL Draft as they are ‘zeroed in on’ him.

Guyton will play at left tackle to end an important offseason debate

Furthermore, Guyton’s addition to the roster has provided clear clarification about the expectation for Tyler Smith in 2024.

Smith has been the subject of debate during the offseason, as it is unclear where the 2023 All-Pro will line up.

In an interview, the sophomore claimed he wanted to stay at left guard which saw him gain All-Pro status.

Guyton will occupy the left tackle slot which confirms Smith will be playing in his preferred guard spot.

Parsons says he is ‘not mad’ at the Cowboys opening pick

Nonetheless, hybrid linebacker Micah Parsons was not as excited as some fans were.

On Bleacher Report’s Live Draft Show, the Cowboys star said: “I’m not mad at the pick. We need more depth at left tackle. It’s very interesting. It’s not a bad pick. I’m never gonna question Will McClay.”

Dallas sees the raw talent in Guyton which Micah Parsons may not, otherwise they would not have wasted their opening pick on the tackle.

On the other hand, Parsons was drooling over the Philadelphia Eagles’ selection of Quinyon Mitchell at cornerback.

Ultimately, Parson believes in the Cowboys’ Vice President of Player Personnel Will McClay to choose appropriately.
