Jerry Jones and his front office have billboarded the NFL Draft as the team’s main source of roster supplementation.
The NFL Draft will begin in a few hours and the Dallas Cowboys will be on the clock with the 24th pick.
America’s Team has allowed key starters to walk to save cap space for key player contracts this offseason.
Therefore, Jones is eyeing up rookie starters on cheaper contracts but is expecting similar results.
This move eases pressure on their growing cap number but they must hit with their picks if the franchise is still to be competing for the NFC East let alone an NFC Championship in 2024.
Dallas Cowboys forced to pick out of ‘need’ in the NFL Draft
The Dallas Cowboys are in a position of need instead of a position of want.
They do not have the luxury of picking for fun, Dallas only has three picks in the first four rounds.
Similar to their offseason contractual debacles, they do not hold any leverage over the Draft and must execute selections to perfection.

The saying goes that you cannot win Super Bowls in the offseason but they can be lost.
As of now, the Cowboys have messed around the fans with their ‘all in’ remarks only to show no intention of being so.
The Dallas Cowboys need a multitude of positions in the draft: Running back, center, offensive and defensive tackles, a middle linebacker, and a wide receiver.
Their offseason actions have led them down this path and they must face the music.
NFL Insider says the Cowboys have to address one position first
NFL Insider Tom Pelissero spoke on the Rich Eisen Show about the Cowboys’ situation heading into the Draft.
On the show, he stated: “They [Cowboys] are in the need territory. A lot of people have mocked Graham Barton the Duke interior offensive lineman to them just because they lost their starting center and their starting left tackle.
“You need to start there if you going to have a chance through the course of this season, you’re running back may not be the highest priority.”
Overall, the reporter suggests they must tie down their fundamental offensive line before plugging holes elsewhere.
If Dallas lacks a strong O-line then there would be little point in drafting a running back.
Today is the day that Jerry Jones’ offseason plan will begin to take shape.
