Kansas City Chiefs show interest in signing another wide receiver, 29-year-old star emerges as an option

The Kansas City Chiefs could be making another offseason move as they have reported interest in a wide receiver.

Andy Reid and the Chiefs have seen a turnover in the wide receiver core this offseason.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling was cut to save cap space and Mecole Hardman has been released.

Chiefs turning over wide receivers

Kadarius Toney has one year left on his deal but he seems not to be trusted as a receiver.

Mike Florio has said Toney has ‘no future’ in Kansas City.

Patrick Mahomes was given a new weapon in the Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown. The free agent signed a one-year deal worth up to $11 million.

Now that there is uncertainty around Rashee Rice’s situation, the Chiefs could be on the look for further depth.

But one of their emerging targets is a former player of an AFC contender.

Chiefs could steal former Bengal

Tyler Boyd is a free agent after leaving the Cincinnati Bengals, he joined the open market in the 2023 offseason.

The 29-year-old lands in free agency for the first time in his career – drafted in 2016 by the Bengals.

Athletic Reporter, Mark Kaboly, has reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers ship has sailed for Boyd.

As per Kaboly, the Chiefs, Detroit Lions, L.A. Chargers, Miami Dolphins, and San Francisco 49ers have expressed ‘preliminary interest’.

Boyd’s production has dwindled in recent years and has failed to break 1,000 yards since 2019.

However, this is no surprise after star talents such as Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins have surfaced as the main outlets.

Boyd a reliable outlet for Mahomes

Nonetheless, Boyd is a reliable set of hands for Patrick Mahomes.

A tall receiver who has proven himself consistently in the slot and can catch in traffic.

As we know, Mahomes can elevate players’ games around him.

I am sure Boyd would not turn down the opportunity to win a ring if the offer is suitable.

Although money talks.

He could follow in the footsteps of tight end Irv Smith who switched alliance from the Bengals to Chiefs in the offseason.

Will the Chiefs step up their pursuit of Boyd? They have shown early interest but face competition.
