Multiple NFL reports emerged this week that Andy Reid is in fresh contract talks to remain at his post in Kansas City for the foreseeable future.
The Kansas City Chiefs head coach has been one of the greatest coaches in the last decade. If reports are correct, Andy Reid and the franchise are in conversation to make the thee-time Super Bowl champion the highest paid in his position.
New contract talks for Andy Reid
The franchise’s most recent world domination occurred just over a fortnight ago against the San Francisco 49ers.
The Chiefs were a shadow of themselves this season when compared to the standards they have previously set in the years gone by.
For the first time, Patrick Mahomes and company stumbled across the peculiar scenario of participating in the Wildcard round in the 2023 playoffs.
Despite having to play every game in the offseason and win the Super Bowl the hard way, they once again were the last ones standing.
The reigning champions had to beat powerhouses who had ring chasing potential: Miami Dolphins (Wildcard), Buffalo Bills (Divisional) and Baltimore Ravens (Championship). This was before they even got a glimpse of the 49ers.
Andy Reid is one of the greatest big-game coaches in the history of the National Football League, so it comes with no shock to hear he could become the highest paid coach.
The 66-year-old has overseen the rebirth of a languishing franchise in his decade of service.
In 2013, Andy Reid took over a team who had possessed the joint-worse record in the NFL (2-14).
Over 10 years later, 10 post season appearances, 4 Super Bowl visits and securing three rings, he will go down as one of the most influential men in the game.
Colin Cowherd, on the Herdline News, was full of compliments for Andy Reid when the reports surfaced: “Andy is an artist, he is a creator, he is a play designer and a play caller.
“He loves working with young people and developing talent and those are the type of people who don’t retire early.”

‘Not good for the sport’
There was speculation straight after the victory at Super Bowl LVIII if the coach would call it a day, but the man they call ‘Big Red’ just loves the game more than anyone.
Cowherd was adamant that if the NFL lost Reid to retirement, the sport would be worse off: “The league is not as good without Andy Reid.
“Andy Reid makes the games great, I mean Andy Reid is one of the most clever big game coaches in my life… Andy Reid leaving is not good for the sport.
“He is also one of these guys where all of his assistants work, he is creating great coaches all through the league.”
The Los Angeles native has over three decades of coaching experience and has created a legacy which some coaches will be desperate to have a fraction of.
During his tenures at the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs, he has created a coaching tree which will leave his blueprint on the NFL for many decades, whenever he decides to clean out his locker.
