The Dallas Cowboys are hopeful Trevon Diggs can make an excellent comeback season and one of his former teammates has encouraged him to become the defensive back in the league.
Trevon Diggs and the Dallas Cowboys were dealt a devastating blow only two weeks into their 2023 season.
Diggs ruptured his ACL during one-on-one training before their match-up against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 3.
He signed a monstrous five-year extension with the Cowboys in the offseason, which was worth up to $105 million. However, Diggs was unable to see out the season and reward the faith that the franchise had shown in him.
Trevon Diggs is set to make a highly anticipated return to action in the coming months
The 2021 First-Team All-Pro has been rehabilitating and is on track to participate in mid-July training camp later this year and have a preseason under his belt.
Moreover, this is a huge boost to the Dallas secondary who felt the absence of their star player, especially in their crunch playoff match against the Green Bay Packers.

Fellow secondary star DaRon Bland was forced to step up in Diggs’ place and made NFL history in a breakthrough season.
The Cowboys star intercepted five passes and returned them for touchdowns setting a new NFL record.
Furthermore, the history-maker is keen to see Diggs return to training and knows he is going to be ‘dangerous’.
Stephon Gilmore has voiced his praise for Diggs and believes he can become the best
Another of Diggs’ 2023 teammates, Stephon Gillmore, has also been vocal with his support and believes the two-time Pro Bowler has all the talent in his locker.
On 2Spoonz Tuesday Podcast, hosted by former NFL player DJ Swearinger, Stephon Gilmore listed Diggs as his fifth-best cornerback in the league.
Nonetheless, the current free agent was adamant about how Diggs can be the best in the league on the podcast.
“Just playing with him [Diggs] this past year before he tore his ACL, he was out for first-team All-Pro year before he tore his knee up,” Gilmore explained to Swearinger.
“But ya know his ball skills, the way his knack for the ball, his competitiveness. I’ve been around a lot of great corners, bro, and he can be the best corner in the league if he really just lock in. The talent is there. Ball skills crazy, he can run, he physical, he’s big.”
Gilmore was supportive of his teammate and recognized that he had all the raw talent to make a charge at becoming the best CB in the league.
The pairing of Gilmore and Diggs could have been one of the most dangerous duos in 2023
The Dallas Cowboys signed the former 2019 NFL Defensive Player of the Year to a one-year deal in 2023, via a trade with the Indianapolis Colts.
Cowboy Nation was enthusiastic that the young explosivity of Diggs and the veteran consistency of Gilmore would be an outstanding success.
The two, in addition to Bland, could have been the best secondary in 2023 but the opportunity was stripped away before it had properly begun.
Diggs is now making positive strides to return to the place he was at before his season-ending injury.
Ultimately, Gilmore remains a free agent and the Cowboys could be tempted to offer another one-year deal. However, talks of a return back to his native state of South Carolina have been discussed.
