The Kansas City Chiefs offseason has been riddled with off-field situations but a problem that has been brewing for some time has now had a new development.

Arrowhead Stadium has been the home of the Chiefs since 1972 and the franchise now has a realistic chance of moving to Kansas.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ lease on their stadium is set to expire in 2031 but the proposal on a sales-tax extension was rebuked by the residents of Jackson County.

Team president Mark Donovan led the campaign for the public to raise the taxes required to bring Arrowhead Stadium into the new era.

Being one of the most historical grounds, the franchise is searching for financial support to add redevelopment making it a state-of-the-art stadium.

However, with the plan being rejected, the Chiefs are now in pursuit of other options for a new home stadium.

The Kansas House gave the green light to the Chiefs as the STAR Bond was passed with a comfortable majority, 84-38.

The Kansas City Chiefs now have the leverage to return to the bargaining table with Missorui and scope out a new solution to keep them at Arrowhead.

If the Chiefs were to move to Kansas, this would be their second state change in franchise history. Moreover, the eventual Kansas City Chiefs initially started out as the Dallas Texans.

Founder Lamar Hunt – father to current owner Clark Hunt- decided to pick the franchise up and move them to Kansas because of the overwhelming presence of the Dallas Cowboys.

The franchise has called Missouri home ever since but their future now remains unprecedented.

Chiefs expert suggests Clark Hunt has no intention to leave Missouri and destroy his father’s legacy

Chiefs expert Tucker D. Franklin spoke to team reporter Matt Verderame about the impending situation.

“If you listen to Clark Hunt say anything about where the team plays; if they are going to have alternate uniforms, nothing changes,” he said on That Football Show.

“He loves the heritage that his dad built, as he should. His dad built a historic team and a historic stadium, which was the first steps of this dynasty now. He wants to preserve it. If Clark Hunt moves this team and tears down his dad’s legacy I would be floored.”

Franklin shares his emotional perspective on the pressing scenario but believes that Clark Hunt will be keeping his father’s legacy in mind.

Future planning is scheduled to take place after the next World Cup

Ultimately, through the initial plan, Hunt’s priority is clear: he wants to stay in Missouri. Mark Donovan who will be in constant conversation with Hunt, suggested the bulk of the future planning will take place after the 2026 World Cup.

Arrowhead is one of the stadiums chosen to represent the United States in the collaborative World Cup with Canada and Mexico.

Renovations are already set to take place because the stadium needs to meet FIFA’s demands.

The Kansas City Chiefs have built a historic legacy in Missouri and are witnessing one of the greatest dynasties in football history. In such a prosperous period, preserving their future at Arrowhead is a top demand for Chiefs fans.
