Clark Hunt and the Chiefs front office have their sights set on the NFL Draft but they could have hinted at an update in another growing project.

At the start of April, the Chiefs learned their fate of a vote which ended disastrously.

The franchise was defeated in a landslide victory as the Jackson County residents voted against the tax extension.

Moreover, the result was not even close with the pole swinging 60/40 against the Chiefs.

Chiefs fail to secure public funding and their president is open to any future

Arrowhead is a public stadium and the Chiefs requested the residents to help fund new renovations.

However, the proposal was completely rejected and there is a chance that the franchise may move elsewhere.

Chiefs president Mark Donovan had stated that ‘all options are on the table’ if their motion failed.

It now has and the disappointment is deafening.

Dallas Mayou suggested the Chiefs return to their birthplace

The Kansas City Mayor has responded to his Dallas counterpart suggesting the Chiefs can return to native soil.

K.C.’s Mayor has hinted that they will work with the Chiefs to figure out a solution which could mean they stay at Arrowhead for the foreseeable future.

Their current lease on the stadium expires in 2031, so their fate will have to be decided by then.

Nonetheless, Donovan has hinted at the time when they will knuckle down to work out what the next step will be.

Mark Donovan says the Chiefs will plan for the future in 2026

During an interview with the Sports Business Journal, the president stated: “We’ve got the World Cup in 2026. We’ve got to get through that. So it’s a bit of a tighter time frame, but we’ll look at options and we’ll create a good solution.”

The main campaigner for the extended tax has suggested that the Chiefs will begin deliberating after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Arrowhead is one of 11 privileged stadiums selected to be a host for the biggest event in the sporting calendar.

Chiefs are required to make renovations to meet FIFA regulations

They are scheduled to make developments on the stadium to comply with FIFA regulations.

Nonetheless, the Chiefs’ hopes of refurnishing the stadium have failed to pass and the future looks uncertain.

Owners have shown no hesitation in moving stadiums previously, Lamar Hunt knows all about that.

In 1963 Clark Hunt’s father moved the franchise known as the Dallas Texans to Kansas City where they were rebranded as the Chiefs.
