The Dallas Cowboys have ticked off their mandatory minicamp and are now heading into their summer break before they reunite in Oxnard, California.
America’s Team will be reporting to Oxnard training camp on July 25 before camp runs from July 26 to August 15.
The franchise has been under the spotlight because of their offseason activity and cornerstone players dealing with contractual problems.
The Dallas Cowboys have major issues to address during the summer break
Dak Prescott will be under center in 2024 but could be made to play out his contract on a $55.4 million cap hit.
Moreover, the 30-year-old’s cap hit has left Jerry Jones with a financial headache and Prescott has created a backlog.
CeeDee Lamb has refused to show up at the OTAs and mandatory minicamp which has seen him earn fines totaling over $100,000.

Justin Jefferson became the highest-paid non-QB in the league with a four-year $35 million APY including $110 million guaranteed.
The deal has provided Lamb with further motivation to leverage an extension creating more problems for Jones.
Micah Parsons has said he will be patient and expects to be the highest-paid non-QB
In addition, defensive superstar Micah Parsons is eligible for a new contract and has displayed a persona of knowing he will get paid.
Parsons has earned All-Pro status in his first three seasons and is eligible for a new deal, intending to become the most expensive non-QB in NFL history.
Mike Florio has speculated that Parsons could follow Ezekiel Elliott’s holdout method
Despite knowing he can get paid, Parsons has been present at mandatory minicamp.
However, Mike Florio has stated that this does not mean he will not leverage a new deal by refusing to turn up at Oxnard.
“Now with Micah Parsons, where the window is open for a second contract, he said he is willing to be patient. If he’s willing to carry the injury risk he’ll get more later… by next year it could be 38,39 [million APY],” Florio explained on the Rich Eisen show.
“Look, Parsons showed up for mandatory minicamp but you know who else did five years ago, Ezekiel Elliott showed up. When it was time for the [preseason] training camp he didn’t show up. It will be interesting to see what Micah Parsons does when it’s time to report to Oxnard.”
Elliot refused to show up to preseason despite being present at the mandatory minicamp to earn a record-breaking deal
Despite being present at the minicamp, Florio speculates that all may not be rosey with Parsons in his contract situation.
Ezekiel Elliott decided to abstain from preseason training to receive a multi-million dollar extension in 2019, as he approached the fourth year of his rookie deal.
Ultimately, Elliott’s holdout was rewarded with a six-year $90 million extension with $50 million fully guaranteed.
Therefore, Parsons may choose to force the Joneses’ hand and demand an extension which would likely see him surpass Jefferson.
This is an option for Parsons and actions are louder than words, history could repeat itself in July.
Players want financial security and the risk of a career-ending injury in the trenches on defense could be too likely to leave to chance.
