Travis Kelce has been praised by his former teammate and fellow tight end Jody Fortson.

Fortson has recently signed with the Miami Dolphins to rejuvenate his career after hitting the open market.

Tyreek Hill, his colleague from his days in Kansas was ecstatic to hear of the Dolphins free agency signing.

With Irv Smith Jr. replacing the outgoing Fortson, the Chiefs have reliable depth at the tight end position.

Fortson was plagued with injuries

Fortson has been very injury-prone since he was picked up by the Chiefs as an undrafted rookie in 2019.

He made his way onto the first team via the practice squad.

In four seasons as a Chief, he only managed to register 14 receptions for 155 yards, which included four touchdowns.

The 28-year-old failed to register a single appearance in 2023 after suffering a dislocated shoulder.

Nonetheless, he has managed to be a part of the dynasty that has won three Super Bowls and been back up to one the greatest tight ends to have played the game.

Not bad going for a person with just 14 NFL catches.

Fortson reunited with Hill

Now the tight end prepares for a new opportunity to work in Miami with an old friend.

The New York native now has successfully secured a one-year deal that could be worth up to $1.2 million.

Since confirming his move to the Dolphins, the former Chief has publicly expressed his gratitude towards Travis Kelce.

As reported by Marca, Fortson described Travis Kelce as being his ‘favorite teammate of all time’.

He added these additional comments after making the remark: “Not only because he took his time trying to teach me the role of being the tight end, but because of how a great person he is.”

Travis Kelce seen as a mentor

During his seasons on the Chiefs’ roster, he has always seen Kelce as a mentor.

Fortson has said the nine-time Pro Bowler has taken time out to teach him and help him improve his game.

This is a testament to the character and personality of Kelce.

Now with Irv Smith under the 34-year-old’s wing, the former’s game could improve greatly.
