One Kansas City Chiefs player has waved goodbye to Andy Reid’s unstoppable team, heading to Miami.
With the arrival of Irv Smith in free agency, Kansas City added depth at tight end.
Smith will add ‘juice’ to the team, his words, and offer a younger alternative to Travis Kelce.
He also replaces outgoing tight end, Jody Fortson, who missed all of the 2023 season with a shoulder injury.

Jody Fortson signs with Miami Dolphins
Jody Fortson earned his way onto the Chiefs roster as an undrafted rookie in 2019 via the practice squad and went on to score four touchdowns.
Two of these came in 2021 and two in 2022, before his momentum was stopped by injury. He was on the active roster in 2022 for the Super Bowl, although did no contribute this past season.
Now released, Fortson has a fresh start in Miami, where he will look to resume his career.
He has been welcomed by former Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who posted on X to celebrate, writing: “Now this is the move I been waiting on.”
We aren’t sure if any Dolphins fans will feel the same way, as Fortson still has a lot to prove in his career.
Sports Illustrated reports he has signed a one-year $425,000 guaranteed deal, with the team hoping he will become a redzone weapon.
