‘Give the bag to this guy’… Rich Eisen discusses who should be paid on the Cowboys’ roster

Jerry Jones has signed just five free agents during the offseason and has supposedly saved the money for their star talent.

Entering the NFL offseason, Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb have just one year left on their current deals.

Additionally, Lamb’s is a rookie deal so he is in line to receive his first juggernaut contract in the NFL.

Linebacker Micah Parsons has also become eligible to receive a new extension as he enters the fourth year of his rookie contract.

Dallas Cowboys’ three key players are expecting new deals

All the star players are expecting to be paid big, although Prescott could be made to play out his current deal.

However, with the Dallas Cowboys OTAs starting yesterday, it was not a shock to see Lamb abstain from training.

Michael Gehlken posted on X that the wide receiver refuses to attend non-mandatory training due to his contract.

CeeDee Lamb withholding services to create contract leverage

Therefore, Cowboy Nation should not expect the 25-year-old to show up for any OTAs as he withdraws services to create contract leverage.

It is without a doubt that the front office will pay the All-Pro caliber player.

Nonetheless, Lamb wants the process to get underway and resolved as soon as possible.

NFL expert says ‘you have to pay’ all three star players

All three players are expecting to be paid and Rich Eisen agreed they should.

On the show, Eisen stated: “They’ve [Cowboys] only given out part of their bag to five individuals. I mean seriously, that’s part of the reason why I thought they would redo Dak [Prescott] to have more space to give the bag to this guy [CeeDee Lamb].

“You’re gonna have to give the bag to Dak, You’re gonna have to give the bag to CeeDee, and you’re gonna have to give the bag to Micah [Parsons]. That’s it we know it. That’s what happens when you draft well and succeed with them… you have to pay them!”

Eisen is convinced that all three cornerstone players will receive new deals in 2024.

America’s Team’s drafting talent has forced them to have to pay their homegrown talent per the market.

Parsons has two years left on his deal so his situation cannot be brushed to the side for a short time.

However, Prescott and Lamb’s situations remain an absolute priority.

All three players could become the highest-paid in their positions

All three could become the highest-paid players in their positions, so Jones was probably smart to be stingy during free agency.

The longer the situations drag out the greater the leverage they both hold.

Nonetheless, Prescott is set to be a $55 million cap hit next season the 2nd highest in the NFL.

He was present on the opening day of the Cowboys OTAs knowing he is in line for a handsome paycheck.
