When you play for the Dallas Cowboys you become accustomed to having shade thrown your way.
What you don’t expect, though, is for that shade to come from family members connected to the team.
It’s been just over a week since Dallas’ season ended in a fiery blaze of anything but glory against the Green Bay Packers.
Pundits, former players and fans didn’t shy away from their criticisms of this group and over the weekend, neither did those closest to some Cowboy players.
Shots Fired
If you were on social media this weekend, you may have forgotten that the Cowboys weren’t playing.
That didn’t stop a war of words from happening.
This one, though, had the makings of a bizarre soap opera with far-fetched plot twists.
The brother of Micah Parsons and CeeDee Lamb’s mother cast the first stones.
According to Sports Illustrated, Terrence Parsons Jr. said that Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn should “pack their bags.”
That was not the end of the hate being thrown at Prescott, though.
Lamb’s mother, Leta Ramirez, took to Facebook, firing shots at the man who connected with her son for 13 touchdowns during the regular season.
Ramirez simply said, “Dak, isn’t it”.
Per CBS, someone commented about that, saying, “Tell the youngin (Lamb) to come to the home team. C.J. (Stroud) would love him.”
Reports indicate that Ramirez responded to the comment with “I wish he would. C.J. is great.”
Lamb attended high school in Fort Bend County, Texas, approximately 40 minutes from NRG Stadium, where the Stroud’s team, the Houston Texans play.
In his fourth NFL season, Lamb finished second in receiving yards (1,7749), breaking franchise and league records throughout the campaign.
Wanting Out?
While Dak had a lot of shade thrown at him over the weekend, his brother had a rebuttal.
On Saturday, Tad Prescott had this to say about some DMs he’s been getting about Dak.
“Cowboy fans who continue to DM me, TRUST ME,” he said.
“If I could get Dak to leave Dallas, I would.”
Prescott, who is 30, has one season remaining on his four-year, $160 million deal.
Earlier this season, speculation was that the Cowboys would extend Dak’s contract when their 2023 campaign ended.
While the playoffs didn’t go well, Dak is fresh off one of the best regular seasons of his career.

In 2023, Prescott led the NFL in touchdown passes (36) while tossing just nine interceptions with a 105.9 passer rating.
His passer rating and 69.5 completion percentage were career-highs for the 30-year-old.
Since taking over as the starter, he’s 73-41 in the regular season but just 2-5 in the playoffs.
Frustrations and venting are typical when losing in the manner Dallas did to Green Bay.
However, this war of words in the family must be addressed.
Dak, Micah and Lamb will do their best to keep up the perception of harmony, so it’ll be on Mike McCarthy to ensure this doesn’t drive a wedge in between this group.
Even with the Wild Card debacle, it seems like the Cowboys have a good thing going but infighting and distractions won’t help.
