The Dallas Cowboys have much to ponder when on the clock with the 24th pick but one expert has suggested they could trade away their slot.

In just under one week rookies, fans, and NFL representatives will converge in Detroit for the NFL Draft.

Jerry Jones has embraced the challenge of plugging key gaps on his roster with rookie talent.

Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons are all set to receive new deals.

Stephen Jones implied those players needing new contracts has forced the front office to withhold from splashing the cash in free agency.

Mock drafts have suggested the Cowboys could target any position

Fans and experts have suggested the Cowboys target their offensive line with the 24th pick of the draft.

Peter Schrager has said if it falls the way he predicts the Cowboys could pick Xavier Worthy.

Moreover, the idea of picking the best player available regardless of position is a suggested way of thinking.

Nevertheless, they must land with all their picks as most will be starters come in 2024.

America’s Team must rely on all their sense and research to continue their legacy of being excellent drafters.

ESPN expert says that Jerry Jones could accept a trade from the AFC

One ESPN expert, Bill Barnwell, has proposed that the Cowboys could trade their pick to the AFC.

The reporter compiled a mock draft column of every team trading their first-round pick.

Despite some proposals being fair-fetched and unrealistic, there is logic to the Cowboys trade.

Barnwell suggests Jerry Jones accepts the call from the reigning Super Bowl champions and lets them have number 24.

Furthermore, the Kansas City Chiefs would move up and the Cowboys would fall to the last pick in the opening round.

Chiefs are searching for a new wide receiver and offensive lineman to help Patrick Mahomes.

So, they would leapfrog key teams searching for similar additions to their rosters.

Cowboys would gain valuable picks to spend on more rookie talent

As a result, the Cowboys would receive pick number 95 (round 3), pick number 159 (round 5), plus the Chiefs first-round selection.

Dallas would gain a pair of valuable picks, whilst still being in an excellent starting position to draft a talented O-lineman.

After the exodus of players during free agency, it would be beneficial to recoup as many picks as they can.
