Micah Parsons has revealed the key to beating the Eagles this weekend, and it involves the defense ‘rushing their butts off’.

The 5-2 Dallas Cowboys take on the 7-1 Philadelphia Eagles this weekend in a matchup that will have huge ramifications in terms of how the NFC East shapes up this season.

The game is perfectly poised with one of the NFL’s best defences coming up against one of its best offences. The Cowboys are riding high after back-to-back wins either side of their bye, while the Eagles boast the league’s best record having just beaten the Commanders.

Dallas star reveals the one secret to beating the Philadelphia Eagles

Dallas edge rusher Micah Parsons knows better than anyone that he and the rest of the defense is going to have to be at the top of their game if they’re to limit this Eagles offense.

Led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, this is an offense that ranks third in points per game (28), third in total yards per game (399.8), eighth in passing yards per game (267.5) and first in time in possession per game (34:14).

Slowing down their offensive line will be no easy feat, but Parsons knows the Cowboys will have to ‘rush their butts off’ if they’re to have any chance of winning.

“We gotta rush our butts off. … Most games are won up front,” Parsons said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “For us to win this game, we gotta win up front. [Facing their offensive line] is always a great challenge, but at the end of the day, they gotta face us too. I know they’re looking over like, ‘When Micah is here, what are we gonna do? When Micah is there, what are we gonna do?’ At the same time, they gotta scheme me, and I gotta prepare to go against them. Iron sharpens iron. It’s gonna be a battle up front on Sunday.”

Dallas’ pash rush will be key to winning the game, and that will largely come down to Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence. This is a defense that leads the league in pressure percentage, peppering quarterbacks at a 48.9 percent clip.

They also rank in the top 10 in blitz percentage (35.0 percent), however, sacks have been an issue. They currently rank 18th in the NFL with 18 sacks – something which will need to be improved upon against the Eagles.

Stopping Jalen Hurts will be key

That’s especially case given they’re coming up against Jalen Hurts, one of the best QBs in the game.

Jalen Hurts is 7th in the NFL with 2,140 yards passing. Against the Commanders, Hurts threw for 314 yards (76.3 CMP%) and four touchdowns with a 135.7 passer rating.

“Jalen is an explosive guy, a guy that can do it with his legs or his arm,” Parsons said. “He’s really been coming on here the last couple of years. We’ve definitely got our hands full with a mobile quarterback and where we are right now.”

The Cowboys have to improve on the road

Parsons knows this team has to play better on the road. The Cowboys’ last two road games have ended humiliating defeats at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals and the San Francisco 49ers. It’s something they’re going to have to overcome when they take to the field at Lincoln Financial Field.

“We gotta do better in away games,” Parsons said. “Obviously, everyone knows that home-field advantage is a real thing. We gotta keep winning, and we gotta keep being consistent. We can’t do it one week and not the next. It’s gotta be consistent. This will be a great opportunity to show that.”

“We just can’t beat ourselves”.

We’ve seen steady improvements with this team over the past few weeks, but until they do it under the bright lights in a hostile environment against a legit Super Bowl contender, the question marks will remain.

It’s time for these Cowboys to step up.
