Eagles DC shares his thoughts on Dak Prescott ahead of Cowboys showdown

Eagles defensive coordinator Sean Desai thinks Dak Prescott is “playing at a high level” ahead of his team’s showdown with the Cowboys this Sunday.

The Cowboys are riding back-to-back wins having overcome the Chargers in Week 6 and demolishing the Rams last weekend following their bye.

It means the Cowboys are now 5-2 for the season having bounced back from the humiliating defeat to the 49ers in Week 5.

However, this week they face arguably the toughest test of their season so far, the 7-1 Philadelphia Eagles who currently have the best record in football.

Eagles DC shares his thoughts on Dak Prescott ahead of showdown with the Cowboys

The Week 9 showdown at Lincoln Financial Field pits the two best teams in the NFC against one another. It’s a game that could very well decide where NFC East title goes this season.

The Cowboys lost in Philadelphia last season but beat them at AT&T Stadium in Week 16, 40-34. Dallas QB Dak Prescott finished with 347 yards passing and three touchdowns in a game where Gardner Minshew filled in for the injured Jalen Hurts.

Ahead of Sunday’s showdown, Eagles defensive coordinator Sean Desai gave his thoughts on Dak’s season so far.

“Yeah, kind of like what he’s been in the bulk of his career in terms of he’s operating in a highly efficient way right now, getting the ball out fast and he’s decisive with where he wants to go with the ball and he’s accurate,” Desai said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “He’s throwing the ball on point to where the offensive structure is asking him to throw the ball, so he’s doing a good job.

“Then, the one thing you can’t ever sleep on him, we learned this a long time ago and you guys have seen it way more than me, his legs. He can still create plays and make plays from a scramble position as a thrower and a runner, so he’s playing at a high level.”

Prescott says he is ‘in rhythm’ heading into Eagles matchup

Dak has thrown for 1,637 yards with 10 touchdowns on a career-best 71% passing. Through seven games he has 5 interceptions, 10 less than last season’s total, and has a 97.8 passer rating – the eighth highest in the league.

He had his best performance of the season against the Rams last week. Dak threw for 304 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80.6% of his passes in the 43-20 win.

Speaking about his form and the Eagles matchup after the game, he said:

“Let’s make it three [best games of the season] next week.

“I’m in rhythm. It feels good. … A lot goes into it, and a lot of it’s the other guys. It’s not just me. Part of playing this position is when other guys are playing their best, it makes you look good, and then you’re being told you’re playing your best. We’ll take it, but it’s early in the year and we’ve gotta keep rolling. As I said, we’ve gotta keep taking this momentum and get better, and make sure we’re putting the best version of ourselves out there every week.

“We’re 5-2 and looking forward to taking the next step next week on the road.”
