The Dallas Cowboys were one of the biggest losers at the trade deadline after the 49ers landed Chase Young.
The NFL trade deadline has come and gone and the Cowboys did not make a single move.
Fans were holding out hope the team could pull off at least one trade before the deadline. However, Jerry Jones poured cold water on that idea several hours before the deadline after telling 105.3 The Fan that he didn’t sense that any big moves were coming.
“Again, this is a competitive thing, as you know. But still, I’m not seeing anything right at this moment. … I see us right now having a pat hand,” Jones said, per the Dallas Morning News.

Cowboys were the only NFC contender not to make a move
And so the Cowboys sat on their hands while their rivals bolstered their rosters. Four of the five best teams in the NFC all made moves to strengthen; the Eagles, 49ers, Lions, and Seahawks all acquired new players to help them in their playoff push.
The only NFC contender who didn’t add to their ranks was the Cowboys.
Cowboys one of the biggest losers at trade deadline after Niners land Young
To make matters worse, and to really cement the Cowboys’ position as the losers on deadline day, the 49ers went out and got one of the best pass rushers in the NFL.
Former Commanders defensive end Chase Young is now a member of the Niners after they gave up a third-round pick to Washington.
The Niners, who are on a three-game losing streak, immediately sorted out their defensive depth issues and in doing so have assembled one of – if not the – best defensive lines in football.
Pairing one of the best edge rushers in the league alongside Nick Bosa instantly elevates their team and puts them right among the Super Bowl favourites.
Young was a No. 2 overall selection in the 2020 draft who was named Defensive Rookie of the Year in his first season. Although he has struggled with injuries in the past two seasons, he is one of the most talented young defensive players in the league. He already has five sacks this season and is eighth in quarterback pressures.
It’s undoubtedly a frustrating move if you’re a Cowboys fan. It also comes after NFC East rivals the Eagles went and signed All-Pro safety Kevin Byard in a relatively cheap move.
Will Jerry Jones and the Cowboys come to rue their idleness? Only time will tell.
