The Dallas Cowboys were left motionless on the opening day of the ‘legal tampering’ window in free agency.
One of the premium positions that was filled with free-agency talent was the running back position.
In addition, the Cowboys needed to fix their offensive run game, so all the stars were aligned…right?
Well, they did not move once the free agency window swung right open.
Cowboys unmoved so far
Rumored targets such as Saquon Barkley, De’Andre Swift, and Josh Jacobs were all tied down to deals by eager franchises very quickly.
One of the biggest low blows was that the starter in 2023, Tony Pollard, joined the Tennessee Titans.
Choosing a bigger payday in Nashville, the Cowboys were eager for his return in 2024 as reported by Dianna Russini.

In total, nine running backs agreed to deals on Monday, which leaves the Dallas Cowboys with very few options remaining.
One of the names America’s Team front office was reported to be interested in was Indianapolis Colts back Zack Moss.
The powerful running back has most recently come off his best season in the NFL after four years.
He was utilized as a short-yardage bulldozing running back at times, starting only eight games and playing 14.
The role of running back was shared between Moss and his counterpart Jonathan Taylor.
Moss was a name of interest for the Cowboys.
Moss goes to the Bengals
Michael Gehlken, reporter for the Dallas Morning News, shared this inside information: “Cowboys were in the mix today for RB Zack Moss, a person familiar with the discussions said.
“Ultimately, the price extended past their comfort point. Moss agreed with Bengals on a two-year, $8 million contract that includes $4.525 in earnings this year.”
Another target has come and gone for the Cowboys, as Moss put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the AFC’s Cincinnati Bengals.
NFL reports have emerged that the Cowboys are operating on a budget strategy and will not differ from their stance.
Therefore, similar to Moss, they have been limited in their targets to pursue.
What now for the Cowboys?
Previous NFL rushing leaker Derrick Henry is still available but has strong links to the Baltimore Ravens.
Options are drying up and Jerry Jones’ claim of ‘all in’ seems to not be materializing.
The longer the wait goes on, the more it seems as though the NFL Draft is going to be the source of the Cowboys’ new running back.
