The Cowboys QB has a favorable record against the Eagles in recent years. Ahead of the weekend’s matchup, Dak told reporters why he likes playing in Philly so much.

There’s a monster game in the NFC East this weekend as the Cowboys take on the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

The two rivals are the best teams in the division right now, with the Eagles atop the NFC East with a league-best 7-1 record and the Cowboys two games behind on 5-2 for the season.

Prescott and Hurts will play in the same game for the first time in two years

There are a ton of fascinating marquee matchups in the game, from CeeDee Lamb vs. A.J. Brown to Mike McCarthy vs. Nick Sirianni and Micah Parsons vs. Fletcher Cox. However, by far the most intriguing matchup is between Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott and Eagles QB Jalen Hurts.

Sunday’s matchup will be the first head-to-head game between Prescott and Hurts in Philadelphia. The one game they started against one another came in Dallas in 2021, which the Cowboys won 41-21 after Dak went 21-of-26 for 238 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

The teams only met once last year, although Hurts did not play. Dak had a 347-yard, three-touchdown performance at AT&T Stadium as the Cowboys ran out 40-34 winners against a Gardner Minshew-led Philly offense.

Dak Prescott reveals why he likes playing in Philadelphia

Dak is 8-3 in his career against the Eagles, winning his last three starts against them. He hasn’t lost to the Eagles since 2019, although he has only played the Eagles once in Philly since then having missed the 2020 and 2022 games through injury.

However, this weekend’s game will be his sixth in Philly, and Dak recently told reporters he looks forward to the trip as it reminds him of his college days at Mississippi State.

“I guess you (can) say having grown up in the SEC, (there were a) lot of different venues and stadiums that you can feel it by the time you get near the stadium,” Prescott said, per ESPN.com. “(Fans) eat, sleep, breathe the game of football. The fans’ excitement. The atmosphere. The close games. The energy.

“When you walk into Philadelphia’s stadium, it’s not different. It feels like some of those old Saturday nights.”

Dak on the home crowd: “Fans are going to get loud”

Dak is all too aware that he will be walking into a hostile environment when he takes to the field Sunday.

The Philly crowd is well known for being raucous, and Dak knows his team has to be locked in to prevent the noise from throwing them off their game.

“Fans are going to get loud,” Prescott said on Thursday. “You’ve gotta make sure your communication is top notch. Then, yeah, then it’s fun always getting a win up there.”

“Philly fans are serious,” Prescott said, per ESPN.com. “They love their team. They’re ruthless to the other guys, and if their team isn’t doing well, they let them know that, too, know what I mean?

“Not anything that is PG-13, to be honest with you, whether it’s language or whether it’s driving into the stadium and seeing how the fans give you different signs, even show body parts at different times, or (their) back end.”

The result of the game will likely have a huge impact on where the NFC East title goes this year. If Dak and the Cowboys can go into Philly and get a win against the team with the NFL’s best record, it would certainly send a statement out to the rest of the league.
