Dak, Micah and Jerry aren’t the issue, Dallas have bigger problem, says ESPN analyst

In the aftermath of the early playoff exit against the Green Bay Packers, fans and experts are starting to allude to a bigger problem.

Journalists and various sports personalities across the NFL landscape have been slating the Dallas Cowboys for having a ‘culture issue’.

Stephen Jones was asked at the Combine about culture problems and he swiftly downplayed those speculations.

The Cowboys real issue

The Iconic blue star is now one of the biggest sporting brands on the globe and has recently been listed as the most expensive sports team in the world.

However, having not made an NFC Championship appearance since 1995, people are now searching for answers.

Everyone knows it is not a talent issue, so the idea of the franchises’ culture has been questioned.

Further discussions about Dak Prescott being truly deserving of a new contract rage in the offseason.

Theories about players caring more about their celebrity status are being whispered about.

However, when you step back and look at the bigger picture, the Cowboys have a roster which is more than capable of achieving greater things.

They boasted the second-best quarterback in the 2023 season and one of the best wide receivers in the game.

Whilst the offense crumbled in the playoffs and handed the Packers the victory, they were the key reason why they boasted an undefeated home record (8-0).

The run defense has been the biggest problem for the Cowboys, which was evident when they conceded 143 yards rushing in their playoff exit.

According to Fox Sports stats, the Cowboys pass defense ranked in the top five across the league.

In contrast, the Cowboys rush defense ranked 16th across the regular season.

A massive contrast between their ability to stop the pass compared to the run.

‘Stop the run problem’

Louis Riddick, of ESPN, told Get Up: “So I don’t know if they have a culture problem.

“What I do know is that they have defensive size problem, I know they have a stop the run problem against teams like the Green Bay Packers and the Buffalo Bills and I know until they fix that they ain’t going anywhere.

“They ain’t winning any championships.”

“You can talk about who is saying what about Dak, and Micah’s podcast, and CeeDee needs to get a contract, you can talk about that all you want.

“Until you can line-up against 12 personnel and stop it, and not put 207lb linebackers on the field, and not have people just run through you over and over and over again, nobody cares about your culture.

“People just about about whether you can win the big one.”

There is no denying Prescott’s abysmal playoff record speaks volumes, however, if they can manage to unlock that talent in the postseason, whilst fixing things up on the defensive side of the ball, the Cowboys will be in excellent position to make a charge for the Super Bowl in 2024.
