Cowboys running back Tony Pollard is being reported to not be securing the franchise tag. Now, Americas Team will be focusing on adding some talent to produce an excellent run game in 2024.
With everyday passing, the free agency window creeps closer and closer.
The whispers around the NFL are that Prescott will be receiving a game-changing contract which will reset the market.
After producing a milestone season throwing the ball, the franchise quarterback will need the appropriate talent placed around him to lead the Cowboys to that sought after Vince Lombardi Trophy.
Time to build around Dak
To take pressure off Prescott’s arm, a dominant running game will need to be established.
Pollard is set to be hitting free agency and a new running back could be lining up for 2024.
One of the hottest prospects without a team, is the Tennessee Titans, four-time Pro Bowler Derrick Henry.
The AFC North’s Baltimore Ravens is currently the odds-on landing place for the bulldozing back.
America’s team may have to look elsewhere if Henry decided to mount a Super Bowl charge in the state of Maryland.
One of the names of the other running backs available is former number two draft pick Saquon Barkley.
Although, the New York Giants are rumored to be open to the idea of discussing a new deal with the 2018 Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The Quad God in Dallas
Could and should the Dallas Cowboys try and sign Saquon Barkley from under their NFC East rivals’ nose?
Former NFL quarterback, Robert Griffin III, last night took to X and encouraged the idea: “The Dallas Cowboys should raid their rival’s closet and sign Saquon Barkley.
“Saquads is a 3 down back, who brings both flash and substance. The Quad God is still one of the most dynamic players in the NFL with the ball in his hands in the open field. Time for these Stars to unite.
It was only two seasons ago that the Giants fan favorite produced a career high rushing yard campaign (1,312). Securing two Pro Bowl appearances in his career (2018, 2022), there is still power in those legs for the Cowboys.
Moreover, if the Cowboys could manage to unlock the calibre of player we all know Barkley is capable of being, they might have a solution. The 27-year-old is still within his prime and is a dual-threat in the receiving game.
A hybrid running back
Registering over 2,000 receiving yards in his career out the backfield, this attribute continues to make Barkley a desirable asset.
The Cowboys’ run game has not been as dominant since Ezekiel Elliott departed and responsibility needs to be shifted away from Prescott, if Pollard moves on, could Barkley make the plays?
