The post was flooded with Cowboys fans sending their tributes to Zeke ahead of his homecoming game:
Elliott was drafted by the Cowboys with the fourth overall pick in the 2016 Draft. During that time he was a three-time Pro Bowl and two-time All-Pro selection, rushing for 8,384 yards and 68 touchdowns on 1909 carries in 106 games. 4,334 of those yards and 42 of those touchdowns came in Cowboys home games at AT&T Stadium.
After losing his starting role to Tony Pollard, he was released by the Cowboys this offseason. He signed with the Patriots in August on a one-year deal worth $3 million.
“I wanted the best for him but also the best for the Cowboys,” Jerry Jones said of the decision to let Zeke leave. “I was kind of laying in the weeds, thinking that maybe it wouldn’t go well for him with another team and we would get to do something but I knew that wouldn’t be the case when Bill Belichick called and asked all the right questions.”
Elliott enters Sunday’s game with 122 rushing yards on 28 carries as well as six receptions for 21 yards. Ahead of the game, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport said Elliott would get “starter reps” against his former team.
