Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has revealed his favorite memory of playing with Ezekiel Elliott ahead of the running back’s return to Dallas this weekend.
Ezekiel Elliot returns to AT&T Stadium on Sunday for his first game in Dallas since leaving the team in March 2023. Elliott spent seven seasons in Dallas, where he became a three-time Pro Bowl and two-time All-Pro selection, while also leading the league in rushing yards in 2016 and 2018. However, he gradually fell out of favor, losing his the starter role to Tony Pollard. After spending the summer as a free agent he signed a one-year deal with the Patriots in August.

Cowboys QB says he and Zeke became “best friends,” like “brothers” in Dallas
Elliott and Cowboys QB Dak Prescott entered the NFL at the same time; Zeke was a highly-touted first-round pick in the 2016 Draft while Dak was a fourth-round pick.
Their bond was almost instant, and their friendship grew over the seven seasons they spent together in Dallas.
“For a quarterback and running back coming in the same class, you’re just going to naturally bond,” Prescott said this week. “We learned the offense together, spent time together.”
Prescott also revealed that he and Elliott became “best friends,” like “brothers,” however, he realises that losing close teammates is just part of the business.
“That’s part of the business,” Prescott said. “We learned that pretty quick, and then seeing him depart, it was part of it. But I’m happy for him, always pulling for him and he’s doing well. Excited for him.”
Dak also revealed that he’d had lengthy phone calls with his former running back in the build up to Sunday’s game.
“Probably the first time we’ve talked on the phone for that long in a while,” Prescott said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. “His spirits are great. He’s excited. It’ll be good to see him. … I’m happy for him. Always pulling for him. He’s doing well. I’m excited for him.”

Dak Prescott shares favorite memory of playing with Ezekiel Elliott
During his press conference, the Cowboys QB also revealed what his favorite memory was from playing with Ezekiel Elliott.
“Probably him jumping over guys. Just clearing them and not changing his stride,” Dak said. “One of the greatest plays that’s never gonna be shown fully is him jumping over the guy in Philly and then tripping over his own feet. I’ll never forget it. If he would’ve scored, it would live forever. But because he didn’t score it’s just something we can laugh and talk about it.”
The play Prescott was referring to was in 2018 against the Eagles when Zeke hurdled over Philadelphia safety Tre Sullivan:
The duo certainly enjoyed some good times together, albeit never in the Super Bowl.
Looking ahead to Sunday’s game, Dak knows all to well what Elliott will bring to the table.
“I expect Zeke’s best every time he gets on the field,” Prescott said. “He said it’s gonna be emotional. I can’t imagine that he doesn’t come in and run a little harder than he normally does.”
Elliott has rushed for 122 yards on 28 carries in three games so far this season, including 80 rushing yards on 16 carries in the Pats’ Week 3 win vs the Jets.
As a result of his performance, Zeke is expected to get some “starter reps” on Sunday against the Cowboys.
