Back when Tyreek Hill was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, speed was the signature feature of the team’s offense.
However, Hill’s move to the Miami Dolphins has somewhat undermined the speed present in the passing game.
As a result, Patrick Mahomes has become less accustomed to throwing deep balls than he used to.
But 2024 promises to reverse this scenario and bring back an old and powerful version of KC.

Justin Watson and his “reputation” as the team’s fastest WR
The end of the Hill era at the Chiefs led Justin Watson to believe that he was the strongest competitor in the roster to take over as the fastest.
His opinion already seems to have changed…
In free agency, Kansas City wasted no time in signing Hollywood Brown, ex-Arizona Cardinals and known for his speed and explosiveness in the field.
Then, in the Draft, they completed the class of pass-catchers with Xavier Worthy, a rookie with absurd potential to put on a show in terms of acceleration.
On Wednesday, after another day of mandatory minicamp, Watson spoke about the two new additions and what caught his eye about them.
“The last two years, we always had a lot of debates and conversations about who is the fastest,” said. “I would always put my name in that ring, but I think I’m going to defer it to one of those two guys. Those guys can absolutely fly. One of those two are definitely the fastest right now.”
“(My) first impression is just that those guys are blazers,” claimed. “They’re a different level of speed. Defenses are going to have to back up.”
“He (Hollywood) wants to be the first guy to make a play,” Watson noted, “and once he makes a play, he wants to bring everyone with him and wants to bring that energy.”
Hollywood Brown sees Chiefs abusing the power of speed this year
On the same occasion, Hollywood Brown also spoke to the media about how the initial experience with the cast is going.
He was asked about Watson’s line about “who’s the fastest”: “I’m really the fastest. They don’t want to race me. I told them we can race in front of all the cameras today, but they’re scared,” said excitedly. “So it’s all good.”
The wide receiver took the opportunity to praise the team’s offense as a whole.
“We’ve probably gotta have the fastest receiving corps in the league. It’s crazy,” Worthy said. “And then even in the running back room, we’ve got (Isiah) Pacheco.”
“We’re fast,” admitted with a smile. “We’re definitely fast. We’re going to put a lot of pressure on people, for sure. I just think it’s going to be exciting. I think everyone should be excited for it.”
Brown then said: “It’s amazing just to have all the speed and all the weapons we have. It’s gonna be a fun season.”
After this statement full of expectations, Chiefs Kingdom can already smell another winning season.
