The Kansas City Chiefs now have new pieces for Patrick Mahomes to revive an old habit he used to have on the field.
In 2023, the wide receiver position underwent a challenging period. The team’s drop rate was the highest of any NFL team. And yet KC won the Super Bowl.
Brett Veach and the rest of the organisation set about creating a plan of action to strengthen the unit and bring back the depth in the passing game that the franchise has always had as its strong point.
On the other hand, Isiah Pacheco was in charge of Kansas City’s running game last season, but had to undergo shoulder surgery in December.
Even so, he returned to the field for the playoffs and was present for more than 70% of the offensive snaps in the four games.

Pacheco is confident that 2024 he will come back with a bang
The running back spoke to the media at the end of the first day of mandatory minicamp and was asked about the progress of the offseason for him.
Pacheco spent some time recovering from his shoulder injury and did not participate physically in the OTAs.
“The most important thing in the offseason is to get better – and finding ways to get better. For me, it was finding ways to get better in the rehab room – not on the field with the guys, having fun [and] throwing the football around,” claimed.
He then noted: “Now, I’m out there, excited, hearing music, throwing the football around. It gets me going just knowing I’m there – and have a lot of guys’ support.”
Pacheco is ready for whatever comes his way
After taking on a lot of responsibility in the playoffs, the player said he’s capable of doing it all again, it just depends on what Andy Reid wants.
“Whatever coach asks me to do. I’m willing to take on the role or the task and just be the guy that some of the guys look to as a leader.”
In the four games last postseason, Pacheco recorded 81 carries for 313 yards and three touchdowns.
Also at the press conference, the 25-year-old was asked about the arrival of pass-catching speedsters who have everything it takes to add depth to the game, whether this would be something that would bother him.
In other words, seeing Patrick Mahomes throw the ball more instead of opting for the running game.
With good humour, RB replied: “If Pat can throw the ball all the way down there, the less running I have to do.”
