Patrick Mahomes’ reign of dominance since becoming the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback in 2018 has shown signs of slowing down with four Super Bowl appearances in six years.

The Kansas City Chiefs can proudly stake their claim to the greatest quarterback of this generation, which has already sparked debate between himself and Tom Brady.

Tom Brady has been in a quarterback tier of his own since surpassing Joe Montanna and Terry Bradshaw’s ring record (4) in 2016 but had seemingly set an untouchable one of seven.

Yet, Mahomes has already won three rings at the tender of 28 for a quarterback.

After their victory against the San Francisco 49ers in February, the Chiefs are in with a chance of becoming the first team to three-peat.

Former Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III believes the Chiefs superstar will leapfrog Tom Brady in the G.O.A.T. debate if the three-peat is pulled off.

Moreover, the Texas native has won three finals and two regular season MVPs, alongside his three precious rings, an accolade combination that Brady did not reach until 37.

NFL expert and former quarterback Chris Simms, without debate, ranked Mahomes as the #1 in his ‘2024 Top 40 QB countdown’ list.

When elaborating on his obvious decision, the ex-Tamp Bay Buccaneers QB could not downplay the ‘aura’ Mahomes possesses.

“Nobody, nobody has more of an aura about them in NFL right now than Patrick Mahomes,” Simms explained on NFL on NBC.

“When you wanna talk about his own team’s belief and what they can do because he’s their quarterback. I mean, the fact coaches reside to, ‘if we’re in a close game and he’s got it last, it’s like ugh. Well they’ll keep it close and they’ve got him (Mahomes), we can contain him but they’re gonna get the ball late… hopefully we can win.'”

Simms highlights how he hears coaches around the league panic when Mahomes is under center in a close game with the ball last.

Patrick Mahomes is one of the few players to carry a presence that strikes fear into the opposition from the defense to the coaching staff.

The six-time Pro Bowler has revolutionized the quarterback position as he can attack the opposition through his arms and legs.

Furthermore, his hybrid threat makes him extremely difficult to contain in the pocket and his improvisation can turn plays from a guaranteed sack to a 30-yard gain downfield.

Brady and Mahomes’ playing styles are night and day apart, but they both possess the legendary clutch trait that is so precious in football.

If Mahomes does pull off the three-peat, the debate about the two legends will run long into the Super Bowl night.
