Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker managed to do something only one other player in franchise history has done before in the win over the Chargers.
The wins and records continue to stack up for the Kansas City Chiefs.
With a 31-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, the Chiefs cemented their place atop the AFC West and AFC at large, remaining as one of only two teams with a 6-1 record.

Kansas duo add to legacies with win over Chargers
Various records were also set in the divisional win at Arrowhead Stadium. Mahomes and Kelce combined for their 50th regular season touchdown, making them the fourth best partnership in NFL history.
Mahomes also became one of only seven players with 10 career games with at least 400 passing yards. He also did it in only his 87th game – the fastest by any player.
Kelce, meanwhile, finished with 12 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown. The Chiefs star Kelce joined Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe as the only tight ends in NFL history with at least five games with 150-plus receiving yards.
Chiefs kicker does what only one player in franchise history has done before
However, it wasn’t just Kelce and Mahomes writing themselves into the history books. Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker managed to do something only one other player in franchise history has done before.
In the first half against the Chargers, Butker converted a 35-yard field goal – his 15th consecutive made field goal of the 2023 season.
Only one other Chiefs player, Morten Andersen, has ever done that. The Pro Football Hall of Fame kicker made 15 consecutive field goals at the start of the 2002 season.
Butker now has the chance to take the outright record should he successfully make his next field goal (16th consecutive) against the Broncos next week.
Per A to Z Sports, he is also tied for the second-most field goals made in the first seven games of a season in franchise history. He is currently 33-of-33 on all of his kicks to start the season.

It comes after an up and down 2022 season
It comes after an up and down 2022 season where Butker suffered an ankle injury in the first game of the season against the Cardinals. He missed a number of games and had what was statistically the worst season of his career.
Butker had a career low field goal percentage (75%), a career high in misses (6), and a career low in attempts (24). However, he secured victory for Kansas City in the AFC Championship Game by drilling a game-winning 45-yard kick against the Bengals before sealing Super Bowl LVII with a 27-yard field goal against the Eagles.
He is one of the most accomplished players in his position in the league and his consistent start to the season can only be a huge plus for the Chiefs.
