Chiefs’ running back signs new contract and shoots video claiming he’s ready for three-peat

Kansas City is investing in all the chances that can help the team to win a third straight Super Bowl.

Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire put pen to paper and re-signed with the Kansas City Chiefs on a one-year deal and is set to be the replacement for Isaiah Pacheco.

To further strengthen the RB position, KC should make some picks in the Draft and there’s also a chance that J.K. Dobbins could sign with the team, as he recently made a visit to the franchise’s facilities.

Edwards-Helaire was chosen in the first round of the 2020 Draft and managed 803 yards in his rookie year.

Unfortunately, injuries somewhat hampered his development with the team in his first two years. After the arrival of Pacheco in 2022, who secured the starting job, CEH’s growth in the team slowed down.

Nothing is above three-peat now

At this point, it doesn’t matter if you’re a backup or a starter – everyone, without exception, has their heart set on winning a third title in a row.

FOX4 News anchor Harold R. Kuntz posted on his X account an excerpt from the press conference held by the running back on Monday.

Announced on Monday morning by Kansas City’s official social media platforms, Edwards-Helaire has recorded a video for Chiefs Kingdom.

“I’m so grateful to be back, I’m ready for this three-peat, man”, he he said with excitement.

The RB was looking forward to making an impact and also tweeted about his new contract: “Lets Glyde To The 3Peat!!!”. Patrick Mahomes retweeted his teammate’s post.

CEH was until then a free-agent, because the Chiefs didn’t want to pick up his fifith-option. Last season, he rushed for 276 yards and scored two touchdowns (playoff included) in 15 games – three of them as a starter, replacing Pacheco, who is injured.
