Jerry Jones and Dak Prescott find themselves in a contract standoff, where the latter is looking to be paid generously – which is an understatement.
Dak Prescott is on the verge of playing his final year as a Dallas Cowboy if no long-term deal can be agreed between franchise and player.
The MVP runner-up displayed another underwhelming display in the playoffs against the Green Bay Packers, despite producing his best regular season performance.
Now, the Cowboys and Jerry Jones have a crucial decision of what to do with Dak Prescott.
Sources previously suggested that America’s Team was going ‘all in’ during the offseason.
Signs indicated that Prescott was going to be given a bumper new deal.

The 2016 fourth-round draft pick will cost the Cowboys $59 million on the cap next season.
A significant percentage of the cap will be swallowed up by one player – which will affect the chances of the Cowboys recruiting in the free agency market.
Therefore, assumptions have been made that Jerry Jones will extend Prescott and restructure his deal.
This will be imperative to reducing Prescott’s cap hit.
According to Rich Eisen, ‘all in’ means Jones will take on the massive cap hit and make the quarterback play out his deal.
An all-or-nothing move, otherwise they build from scratch.
Dallas Cowboys need Dak Prescott
On the I Am Athlete Podcast with Brandon Marshall he explains how the Cowboys depend on the 30-year-old: “The Cowboys need Dak Prescott more than Dak Prescott needs the Cowboys.
“From a business point of view, they have to play nice with Dak because Dak has all the leverage. Can’t franchise tag and he has no trade clause.
“Dak Prescott not only has the leverage from a business perceptive but also from a production standpoint. The only thing Dak Prescott hasn’t done is win a Super Bowl and last I checked, there are legendary quarterbacks who never won a Super Bowl.”
Marshall even went as far as to say Prescott could be a future ‘Hall of Famer’.
“He has to win, and winning cures all, and if he does, he could find himself among some of the greatest. He could be a potential Hall of Famer.”
Then proceeding to state he already has numbers equivalent to legends of the game: “Dak Prescott through eight years, compare him Drew Brees, Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger and see where he matches up.
“It is identical and, in some categories, even better!”
Cowboys’ fans will undoubtedly be on edge and want clarification about the contract situation.
If Prescott can produce another MVP-challenging season, with the right talent injected into the team, he can win a Super Bowl.
