Dallas has been disappointing in yet another offseason and things are looking increasingly bleak.
Owner Jerry Jones’ latest speeches are slowly showing what Cowboys Nation should and can expect from their team this season. And the situation seems to be a little worrying so far.
Given the possibility of the Dallas Cowboys not extending Dak Prescott and him being available on the market in 2025, the debates on sports shows and social media about the franchise’s next year are flaring up.
The Draft is just around the corner and Jones is certainly counting on the possibility of filling his roster with young pieces. Since free agency began, Dallas hasn’t shown their potential to go ‘all-in’ and have made only one external move – and a very low-key one at that. Linebacker Eric Kendricks is the new addition and should take over the position due to the forced retirement of Leighton Vander Esch.

Bets for the new-old Dallas Cowboys
In the recent edition of The Bill Simmons Podcast, he and sports betting expert Raheem Palmer made predictions about some NFL teams – expectations, whether they’ll do well or not and an overview of free-agency.
The podcaster can’t see America’s Team in a good light this season. Things still seem a bit hazy and without resolution.
Upon hearing the bookmakers had set their season win over/under total at 10.5, Simmons says he predicts they will go ‘under’.
He said: “I don’t see how the Cowboys are an actual contender this year. You brought McCarthy back for reasons that remain unclear, you’re paying your best players – I think they’re gonna be pretty expensive.”
“And even the stuff Jerry Jones says about ‘I don’t know, we’re gonna have to work around the fringes’, their whole attitude just kind of seems they’re like… I don’t wanna say it’s a transition year but it’s definitely not a typical Cowboys ‘we’re going all-in, we’re here to win the Super Bowl’.
“Are they 10-7, yeah.”
Palmer made it clear that he’s going under on the Cowboys this season and that, in fact, the team’s environment is more confused than ever – especially in some very important positions.
“I don’t know what they’re going to do in the Draft, it doesn’t seem like they have it together at running back position.”
“I would definitely lean under.”
Since Tony Pollard’s departure to the Tennessee Titans, the running game has become a sensitive topic for Dallas, who only has Rico Dowdle, their veteran and most solid runner so far, as a reliable piece.
