Get to know the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones and how he’s transformed the team into an estimated $9billion franchise.
Jerry Jones
Jerry Jones is one of the most famous NFL owners in the history of the League. After purchasing the club for a mere $140 million dollars from previous owner Bum Bright, the franchise has developed into a money-generating haven.
Under the tenure of Jerry Jones, the Dallas Cowboys have an estimated value of $9 billion. Jones oversees the organisation on multiple fronts: the president, owner and general manager.

Jerry Jones enjoyed immediate success
Jerry Jones has watched over one of the more successful ownership transition periods in NFL history. Within just seven years of acquiring this American football juggernaut, Jones reaped the rewards after securing three Super Bowl titles in 1992,1993 and 1995 respectively.
Additionally, America’s Team became the first side in the NFL to win three world championships in the space of four years. Currently, they sit just behind the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers (6) and equal on five Super Bowl accolades with the San Francisco 49ers.
After 10 years of Jerry Jones Cowboy ownership, they found themselves closing on their most successful decade in franchise history. Eight playoff appearances, six division titles accompanied by four conference championships and of course the Super Bowl rings. No one could dispute when they were crowned the best NFL team of the decade in the 1990s.
Jones was the recipient of the exclusive NFL Executive of the Year award to recognise his efforts in 2014 and the continued hard work for the Dallas Cowboys.
Stadium is Jerry Jones legacy
In 2009, Jones’ vision was officially brought to life when the construction of AT&T Stadium was completed. The stadium, also referred to as ‘Jerry’s World’, is considered by many as one of the most impressive examples of stadium architecture in the world.
Jones’ idea was for the stadium to be able to facilitate a range of events, from American football and music concerts to basketball games and wrestling. No wonder they call it ‘Jerry’s World’, as the dream pictured inside his head came to fruition.
The 81-year-old has demonstrated his efforts of aiding the community as he strives to inspire the next generation of footballers. Creating the world leading headquarters and training development facilities, The Star in Frisco, whose state-of-the-art architecture is helping change the community landscape.
Jerry Jones has orchestrated some of the most successful drafts in the NFL over the past decade.
Throughout the last 12 years America’s Team have drafted 16 players who have gone on to make selection for the Pro Bowl. With the earliest being Dez Bryant and Sean Lee (2010), all the way to their latest addition in the form of Micah Parsons (2021).
With Jones and the Cowboys boasting a footballing IQ which delivers excellently during draft selection, this is a fundamental cornerstone of why the franchise is one of the most successful to date.

Coaches hired by Jerry Jones
Sensible coaching selections have been imperative to the historical success of the Arlington based team. Bill Switzer (1995) and Jimmy Johnson (1992/1993) were both placed into the Cowboys hot seat as head coaches and delivered one and two Super Bowl titles respectively.
Although 1995 was their last Super Bowl success, the Cowboys have had multiple playoff victories, division titles and winning seasons under a surplus of coaches: Chan Gailey (1998), Bill Parcels (2003-2005), Wade Phillips (2007-2009), Jason Garrett (2010-2020), who after nearly a decade added three division titles and his 79 wins as head coach gives him the second most victories in franchise history.
Los Angeles native, Jerry Jones, is currently one of the longest serving NFL owners. 38 owners have registered in the NFL over the last 48 years, of that group, only three have guided their team to a hattrick of Super Bowl crowns. Jerry Jones can proudly say he is one of them alongside Robert Kraft (New England Patriots) and Pat Bowlen (Denver Broncos).
Despite all their previous success and being the richest franchise in the NFL, silverware has been a rarity since the turn of the century. Veteran owner Jones will be desperate to deliver former glory back to the Dallas Cowboys faithful.
