‘You cannot be silent’… Stephen A Smith urgently calls on Chiefs star to get on camera and address claims

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman caused a major stir this week after conducting an interview on his season.

Mecole Hardman began the 2023 season on the New York Jets, before being traded back to Kansas City Chiefs before the deadline.

Despite his own concerns over his usage back in Kansas City, Hardman ended up catching the Super Bowl winning touchdown from Patrick Mahomes.

But after his decision to give a tell-all interview this week, there has been quite a fall out.

Mecole Hardman criticised Jets

Mecole Hardman told the Pivot podcast to question the Jets lack of professionalism, claiming there is no winning culture on the team, and there was no back-up plan for when Aaron Rodgers got injured.

A Jets player hit back at Hardman, dismissing him as a ‘disgruntled former employee’, and that was not the end of it.

SNY.tv made the allegation that some Jets players thought Hardman had leaked details of game plans to opponents, and this has become a major point of contention.

Hardman’s agent Andy Simms told NBC Sports: “It’s a laughable and ridiculous allegation.”

Stephen A Smith advice

Stephen A Smith gave advice to Hardman to go a step further, via First Take, urging him to speak out.

He said: “Somebody accuses you of something like that. You cannot be silent. No, you cannot be silent, you cannot disappear. You can’t leave it to a PR machine.

“You can’t issue a statement or tweet Mecole Hardman, wherever you are, get in front of a camera, get in front of a microphone.

“And if this is not true, I mean I’m talking about today. Get the hell in front of it and say, ‘Yo, this is a lie. This is false. This is not true. I would never do something like that’.

“Because any hesitation leaves room for doubt. And you can’t be in a locker room where you are surrounded by cats who are doubting whether or not you would compromise them like that. You cannot do it.”

Smith added that he has faith in Hardman, adding “I don’t believe it for a second.”
